I did the catering for my own 50th in my garden this summer and must have had about 140 peple there and one lesson I did learn was that I had too many different dishes, there must have been about 14 different things, so here goes with the ones I can remember (lots to drink too..) stuffed boiled eggs, stuffed dates, mixed mini quiches, big quiches, mixed stuffed pastry cones, salads: potato and two types of rice, cold roast turkey, prosciutto fountain with melon balls, several tpes of dips with raw veggies, I also bought ready made a "porchetta" italian roast baby pig, also made finger size sandwhiches, and two very big birthday cakes (bought). At the end of the evening for the hangers on I served an enourmous saucepan of "pasta e faggioli con cozze" which is pasta, beans and mussels, which is a really nice cold thick soup. The evening was a great success with the first arriving at about 6 in the evening and the last leaving at 5 the next morning!
