The John Torode version is much better than the old one but Captain Cabbage the "guru" doesn't half get on me nerves.
OK, it's great that someone can grow veg but does that make him qualified to judge a competition?
I know that the recent batch are all repeats but he xxxxs contestants off just for the idea of the food they will cook, then is rolling his eyes in ecstacy when he actually gets off his soapbox to taste it.
"You NEVER cook inoki mushrooms" he said, just before the programme New British Kitchen showed a Korean chef cooking.................er................inoki mushrooms.
"Sea Bass with vanilla"? his little face crumpled up like an old carrier bag. Rick Stein did Sea Bass with vanilla, but what does HE know, he can't grow a carrot to save his life.
At least John, a REAL chef has dumped him for his new show.
Heaven save us from opinionated market gardeners.

I agree ENTIRELY. this show has to be the most inconcsistent food show on television. These silly statements, you never put dairy with seafood on one episode and then one week later saying the lobster thermidor needed more cream?!

Since when do you never cook inoki?? Amateurish, isn't it?

BTW, both are inconsistent, saying one thing in one episode and then something totally opposite in another.

Well - I had noticed this in last year's final. Torode had crucified someone early in the series for a scallop and black pudding dish where the contestant had alternated the two and he called it "amateurish", then in the finals another contestant did exactly the same dish and Torode was over-the-moon with its appearance. "Restaurant quality presentation" was his exact comment.

Completely arbitrary.
