liquid smoke

i saw a recipe for making beef jerky however one ingriedent was for liquid smoke, any ideas if it can be bought in the u.k. as struggling to find a supplier

Interesting gastro! But it does look like it is safer than the basic smoked foods themselves. I love smoked food and have my own smoker but have always known that smoke particles carry carcinogens. That's the problem with cigarettes, fireplaces and other exposure to burning substances.

It looks like liquid smoke may actually be a good attempt at cleansing the whole process (although nothing is 100%)

I guess everything is just common sense and moderation I suppose.

Such things are difficult to gauge - the issue of smoking foods comes up every now and then, and very often there are professionals warning against it, but then it dies down again and the shops carry on selling such products.

Every day we get more and more information coming out about the healthy / unhealthy aspects of food, and not infrequently one study cuts across the findings of another.

I think a lot of people are just left confused and so become sceptical about taking any advice seriously.
