Was just commenting the other day that I can't really see what people insist on raving about. I'm buying majorcan at the moment and they have been yummy.

Hi Ekay, I seem to remember that Jersey farmers used to spread seaweed on the land before planting. It would seem possible that the EEC has banned this practice and if true that may be the reason for the change in flavour, which I agree it not as good as it was.

Big Grin Big Grin thanks chippychap and liverbird 2. I have had lots of verbal agreement that jersey potatoes are underflavoured, but overpriced. No one has yet come up with the answer why?

I agree, I was saying to my husband that they just dont have that earthy taste like they use to have. Something is missing so you are not alone liverbird2

They have tailed off dramatically and I seriously doubt the impartiality of TV chefs who rave about them.
