Cheeky I would like to cook my partner a really scrumtious meal for valentines BUT he doesnt like vegetables!!!! Tinned peas just dont cut the mustard with a really nice fillet steak and rosti potatoes....how can i make his plate look a little more interesting. Bearing in mind we have been together for 20 years and marrowfat peas venture onto his plate at least twice a week.....Maybe a separation is in order for a more green loving man!!!

We celebrated my mums 50th Golden this week-end, we had our food and party at my sis's house went very well. We had hot food in the cooking trolley. Lasagna went well. Cheers! Tongue

Tricky subject! My Son in Law is not keen on veg, except purple broccy! I have experimented with food over the years, without much success. However, recently he has started making pizza's from scratch and lo he is into some fine diced veg as topping.

If you are making steak, how about a hot salsa! Or, corn on the cob! Stir fried veg. Have a look at Chinese cooking. Salad with a spicy dressing.

Guess if you still love him it is not the end of the world if his only vice is no veggies!

gordon ramsey has a lovley recipe for home made mushy peas using marrowfat which all my family (a true feat) will eat - mash two tins of peas up put in some white wine vinegar and butter and heat through as far as I can remember - nice.
enjoy your meal.

Hi Lucy,

Glad it worked out for you.

Final thought on this. I was given a copy of Jamie O's book, 'Jamie at Home'. It has some good ideas about cooking with your own ingredients, veggies and the like. If you have some spare space, even if it is just a couple of pots or a grow bag, a copy of the book might promote you partner to trying to grow a few seeds and eating the results.

Hi David,

Thanks for the idea!!
Mum and Dad have an allotment out Pontefract way and have already got some potatoes in. Bit too frosty for anything else yet but like you say we could try growing at home. I love the idea of growing all my own veg etc and might just give it a whirl. Mum and Dad have chickens too...........only for the eggs (free range organic of course) just in case Jamie o's online!! and they like to keep them as pets once they stop laying..........could never slaughter them and eat them!!!

Anyway might get around to planting a few seeds at home...i love Jamie at Home don't you.........wish i had all the space he has and no full time job then i could do all those grow your own things and cooking!!! It'd be great.

Thanks again

Lucy Smile
