I have several hundred cookery books, but it is the old ones that I go back to time and again. My "Collins Family Cookey" by Elizabeth Craig gets used time and again, as does my collection of Australian Womens Weekly books.
I find that a lot of modern recipes have far too many ingredients.
When I fancy a "new" book, I head for the second-hand shops and buy a vintage one. ebay also has vintage books.
I have a cake recipe book that I bought for 1s 6d in the 1960s from a baking powder company, and these cakes are still the best, especially the "Hot Milk Sponge" that you can make and serve in under an hour. The batter spatters on the pages tell you how much I use it!

I just bought "1080 Recipes". It's wonderful. Spanish cooking from A to Z.

I love anything by Anthony Worrall Thompson. We have quite a few of his. My favourites are the GI and GL diet ones. Doesn't seem at all like diet books.

I would like to get Nigellas Express Cookbook.
