When there is a topic worth posting on I post. This is all off topic, let Barshedale have his thread back.

Doug - I also note that Soup Kettle also left the board on exactly the same day. Six or seven posters all stopping within an hour of one another...hmmmm.

It is great to see a return to civility and mutual respect regardless of any specific opinion on any given TV programme.

Before MK came on the air this board used to be so much fun with all the different opinions and ideas. It appears hopefully that the comaraderie of the board might have returned!

Yay!

Perhaps we have the MK summer break coinciding with the horrific Gary Rhodes Across India to thank for the improvement - but it is most welcome!

It truly is "getting better" IMHO. Smile Smile

I still miss GFL and the wonderful Jeni Barnett. I know that MK has taken a break for the summer and hopefully it will never return from holiday, if the chefs, presenters and the background crew audience etc could be likened to luggage, let's all hope that they stay lost at some remote airport. Jeni Barnet is now filming a new food programme for the BBC.
Enough said!!!! I REST MY CASE. xx

I also noticed how calm and polite the boards have become in the past week or so....a delight!

Perhaps it was just one single irritant all along?

Agree 200%. Sure that Rosti's still about and she did/would not post under any other name. Let's hope the trend continues and normallity prevails.

Conch, perhaps your wish has now come true.

The board has become far, far more pleasant and the posts far less toxic, more reasoned and thoughtful since 4.13PM on 7 August when Martin02, Natural Woman, and MickeyT coincidentally all had their last "say".

Odd, all have left the board at the same time.....and even rosti too has been quiet since about then. ? ? ?

Coincidence, I'm sure.

And blessedly - a full week without reminders about "wrong board, Conch" Big Grin Big Grin

Martin I do fear for your blood pressure. It would be so nice to read a pov from you actually about a programme or a recipe rather than a fellow poster.

Farewell dear MK board. I shall return when it's back on air. Meanwhile there is fun and frolics to be had elsewhere on more charming threads.

I echo dusty, Cool Hug ta-ra.

Either is acceptable, I shouted to make a point, posts like yours are rude, you are asking other people to be nice, follow your own lead. or cant you?

Maybe if you all start apologizing first some may forgive you. Ball in your court really. Apologize for the nastiness then keep things in the right place.
IT IS NOT OK TO TALK ABOUT GFL IN A MK CHAT ON THIS BOARD IT HAS ITS OWN AND PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASKED TO STICK TO IT. what does it take to permiate?

Looking back I can't see anything horribly off topic really It's perfectly OK to mention GFL within an MK chat on this board, no one has said different. (The channel team have been more concerned about MK posts staying in the right place).

What was fanning the flames was when a lot of the posts were GFL great=MK bad or vice versa, so MK threads were getting full of Bring Back Jeni posts. That's really calmed down now and once again it must be acknowledged that criticising MK did not necessarily mean that a person loved GFL. True for a few but not for many people, like me, who were not regular viewers or big devotees of GFL but found MK rather shoddy, certainly in its early days.

We're individuals and it doesn't seem helpful to persist in lumping people together. Larissa, you've said yourself that no-one has the right to be nasty, so let's not Frown Smile

Conch and Scaly, I wouldn't pay much attention to these silly comments. they are obviously posted simply to discourage you and others from expressing your opinions.

I don't know what Larissa is on about as there hasn't been any mention of Great Food Live here in recent times???? The commentary from everyone was in regards to Market Kitchen, which is this thread.

Why has commentary from people that don't like Market Kitchen "inflammatory". It certainly isn't intended to be.

Most of the comments have been well though out suggestions for improvement of the program, in the opinion of those that have posted.

Everyone acknolwedges that a great deal of viewers have embraced MK and are watching it. There's no argument.

But just like there's tons of comments on how they don't like this show or that, or this personality or that, the same applies to Market Kitchen.

There is still a GFL board on this site to post about GFL if you want. There is also a messageboard on Bright Ideas you can go to. Everyone was asked a long time ago to stick to it not post about GFL on MK board, you anti MK have flooded the site for too long and upset too many people. You made your beds by insulting the genuine posts on this site they are now retaliating and if you cant take it you shouldnt have started it.

I agree with TVFoodie, Scaly, and add my support, don't worry. It has been awful and I nearly said the same on Sunday night when this particular thread was horrendous. Thankfully the offending posts were removed. You can read other people's reactions to Soup K in particular on the other threads.

I'm sticking to What's On and Food Chat now, whilst MK is off air, as well as the politer confines of the BBC boards. Plenty of other things to talk about and new shows like Rhodes Across India to keep us entertained.

Scaly, don't be upset. There seems to be some sort of sensitivity to any comments about Market Kitchen for some unknown reason. I've just chalked it up to the producers being on the board.

Everywhere on this website you can see comments such as "I don't like Gary Rhodes, or "Gordon Ramsey drives me the wall" or "Jeni Barnett is big and loud", etc, etc and they are accepted as people's opinion with very lttle comments. Differing opinions is what makes the world go 'round.

But the very odd defensiveness about MK is downright weird.

Lots of people like MK and it IS the only really new nightly production on UKTVFood. But lots of people don't like it too.

So what??? Is that really so hard to understand or accept?

Scaly, I'm sorry the nasties have gotten to you. Because that was their intent.

This will be my last post as I am shocked at how nasty SOME posters on here are if you don't think their way. And yes I was a GFL lover but hey when did that become a swear word?

I do not like MK that is obvious and I assumed I could voice my opinion on the MK messageboard but any anti MK comment is immediately jumped on by "the usual suspects", I have been posting on the BBC board for a couple of years and whilst tempers flare now and again and trolls appear too the majority of posters there are pleasant, I have noticed they too have been jumped on here from time to time.

Thank you to the posters that have jumped to my defence and those who have helped me when I have had questions it was most kind, but the nasties have now won, I will use the site only to get recipes.

If you two hate the people here so much you don;t have to post you know. You don't have to watch UKFood either. Barshey was only joking. If you do keep watching and posting an attempt at pleasantness is worth an try.

Ok Scalywitch, you were only commenting on Market Kitchen and Mickey's comments were directly in respect of that and not anything to do with being on the wrong board, what exactly are you saying now???

TVFoodie, UKTVFood have asked that posts be kept in the right place, nothing wrong with that, other posters have been crying out for it for a long time. You say we need to get a life? the company needs to get a life? maybe according to you everyone who doesn't agree with you needs to get a life!!

Scalywitche's post may be misguided, but UKFoodie, yours is simply inflamatory!
