I just looked at the ratings and the show is nowhere to be found I wonder why?
I don't suppose the they ever read these message boards or they would have got the message by now.

Don't want to!

Who is this show aimed aim.... Sports days, tressle tables, white linen loaded with goodies. £45 per person picnic hampers. Confused inane commentary from the hosts.
Really disappointing. I'll stick to Saturday Morning Kitchen and leave UKTV alone. Frown

It may well be the worst, but they also don't like critisicm. I posted my opinion on another thread (no bad language or inflamatory statements) on Friday and have logged in this afternoon only to see that it has been deleted.

Freddyg - you're not the only one. I also wrote in on Friday and my email has also mysteriously disappeared. Bit like their audience! Roll Eyes

I just find the whole thing rushed! It makes me anxious watching it. No time is taken and it is noisy, I mean the background noise makes it chaotic. Time is always running out and there is no enthusiasm, no laughter, no fun. Very disappointed.

Yes, this IS the worst food program EVER! I used to watch the network every night religiously....now I almost never do. I bet the whole network's ratings are down.....I just check this board to see when the show is axed and replaced by something else. I used to love to watch GFL and now there's nothing except Barefoot Contessa.

I agree wholeheartedly with "TVFoodie"! It IS the worst food programme ever! I also watched UKTV Food every night and got some great ideas from the chefs on Great Food Live, but not any more. There is nothing interesting on Market Kitchen. I wonder what the ratings are?!

As everyone agrees here - this IS the worst food program EVER!

I've completely stopped watching this channel as there's nothing except Barefoot Contessa. For sure, there is nothing interesting on Market Kitchen.

Who is this show aimed at exactly?

You can add my vote! This is the worst cookery programme ever! Dull, dreary, boring and lacking "entertainment value". You can't watch an entire show. It's sleep inducing.

But this has had a knock-on effect to the entire channel...except for Barefoot Contessa, I have now essentially given up watching the channel since GFL's demise.

Well, watching Bryn's show and spending an hour on a fish dish that requires samphire. How useful! That's a really accessible ingredient. You're right, Mrs OAJ, no great ideas anymore are there....

At one time these message boards held more 'anti' comments posted about the dire nature of Market Kitchen than for any other subject up for discussion. I see that the powers that be, have now removed 99% of them so that the message boards now only show 350-400 comments when there used to be many thousands! Perhaps they think the huge number of complaints made them look bad?

They can remove all message board postings they like - the complaints will keep coming until they remove the utter garbage which is Market Kitchen or they have no audience left to complain.

I've never managed to watch an entire programme of Market Kitchen. Indeed, I can feel the life force ebbing from me after about 5 minutes of exposure to its wooden presenters and patronising, uninspiring tedium. Because I no longer watch GFL's main 'anchor' show, it means I now rarely watch GFL at all.

DO SOMETHING BEFORE YOU LOSE YUR ENTIRE AUDIENCE!!

Please stop the torture that is Market Kitchen.

You are making a very good point Hampshire Rose.

At one time the whole website was flooded with anti Market Kitchen and bring back GFL posts.

They are still there in the history. Now there just aren't as many anti posts being posted. Fact.

Another fact is that Market Kitchen is getting a better audience than it did, and as good an audience as GFL did in the past.

The repeats that people have posted complaints about for years are still getting top audience figures.

As people have said for years, if you don't like it, don't watch it. Other people are watching Market Kitchen and all the repeats, viewing figures prove it. The few who keep shouting on here are a very small minority of the viewing public.

Well there aren't so many anti posts appearing because they're being deleted and that's a fact. I've had a few deleted myself, as others have. They were perfectly reasonable posts, not nasty or inflammatory, just anti. They seem to delete them in batches, let's delete 5 here an 5 there and they might not notice. But however many posts they delete it won't stop MK being a very poor advert for UKTVFood. And so say most of us.

They must be appearing for them to be deleted though dustyfrg, I've been working on the computer all day today as I have most of the last week, popping here very often (too often) and I am just not seeing them appear the way they were.

If they are, and being deleted for no reason as you say, then I agree, that is not on.

Rosti, you have made some statements that are incorrect:

"They are still there in the history." No they aren't! Many, MANY, of my earlier messages are gone, no where to be found.

"Now there just aren't as many anti posts being posted." Not a Fact.

"Another fact is that Market Kitchen is getting a better audience than it did, " That's not true...the best ratings were in week 1. They HAVE had two good blips into the Top 10 when Stein wasn't on, but just subscribe to full BARB listings and you'll see MK is way, way down there.

"and as good an audience as GFL did in the past." Nope, not true. GFL on a 13 week average had a 23% higher veiwership that the admittedly early history of MK.

"The repeats that people have posted complaints about for years are still getting top audience figures." Also, not true. Top repeats are Rick Stein which has never been a subject to an "anti-repeat" diatribe. We all know the shows people are talking about when they talk "repeats"!

TVFoodie Well said!
I love accurate information and statistics, I also love good quality programmes with great personable presenters that really engage with their viewers. A certain lady comes to mind on Great Food Live!
Our quest for the return of GFL continues.
See you all at the barricades.....................

Rosti, you have made some statements that are incorrect:

"They are still there in the history." No they aren't! Many, MANY, of my earlier messages are gone, no where to be found.

Many of your posts MAY have been deleted, but there are still many anti MK posts still there, if you look. FACT

"Now there just aren't as many anti posts being posted." Not a Fact.

These boards were flooded with complaints every minute of the day, now they aren't FACT

"Another fact is that Market Kitchen is getting a better audience than it did, " That's not true...the best ratings were in week 1. They HAVE had two good blips into the Top 10 when Stein wasn't on, but just subscribe to full BARB listings and you'll see MK is way, way down there.

I don't just subscribe to BARB but others as well, they are getting better results, a couple in the top ten, many others below it which still outrank GFL from the past. Just because the lower figures aren't published (and I can't publish them here) does not mean they don't exist. FACT

"and as good an audience as GFL did in the past." Nope, not true. GFL on a 13 week average had a 23% higher veiwership that the admittedly early history of MK.

Depends WHICH 13 average you are going by out of the 5 years GFL was on.

"The repeats that people have posted complaints about for years are still getting top audience figures." Also, not true. Top repeats are Rick Stein which has never been a subject to an "anti-repeat" diatribe. We all know the shows people are talking about when they talk "repeats"!

Yes it has, there have been NO MORE RICK STEIN!!!! threads. FACT

Where is PaddyJ? ask them how they feel about the way they were treated for saying they liked Market Kitchen.... oh dear, they don't seem to be posting anymore, but I'm sure that was nothing to do with the name calling and nasty comments made to them.

Now, I feel under attack again by what you have posted TVFoodie.

As I am under attack, once again, I will withdraw from these discussions and leave you to your misery. It is about time these boards got back to talking about food. Not TV. It is such a shame that people are not allowed an opinion, unless they are with the majority.

One little thing.................

posted on another thread today................

James Martin seems to assuming the mantle of Rick Stein on UKTV Food - repeated too often!!

As I said, Rick Stein repeats have been complained about for ages.

Thank you for taking the time to look.

Billy is rarely around now, PaddyJ hasn't since that thread, nor have Paul Gray or GlynPaul.

There are also others from other threads now removed, as have some of yours TVFoodie.

Thanks again for reading.

Hi Rosti, GlynPaul,

I'm sorry to hear that you have been subjected to verbal abuse, it is unpleasant and unnecessary but unfortunately part of the nature of a public and anonymous message board.

Not everybody has the same likes/dislikes and there are differences of opinion - infact wouldn't it be boring if there weren't? The problem is that some people are not able to express themselves without sounding angry or offensive to some and you (we!) just have to be thick skinned.

I personaly don't like MK. You do like MK. I do not think you are bad people because of it. Similarly, My Wife likes Beetroot I can't stand the stuff, does that mean we fight about it? No, we just accept that we have dirfferent opinions and get on with life.

Is it really worth withdrawing from a discussion on something you feel passionate about because someone says something that you don't like? Please come back in. The water's lovely!

Now, lets all have a group hug and continue slating MK Wink
