How many times can James Martin dig deep, or Gary Rhodes choose 2006 hero, we know the winner. How about new programmes, enough of the repeats already. I said enough of the repeats, it's driving me crazy. Why are the weekends full of repeats, yet to be repeated an hour later on +1. I'm looking for a job in the media, what to hire me to get new programmes sorted? Bring back Jenny Bennett she will get it sorted Angry Angry Angry

The repeats are indeed now becoming rather - er - repetitive.

I can now chant along to entire episodes of Keith Floyd... Frown

I know, these guys Rick Stein, Jamie, James, Rachel, Nigella, Ina etc they are all great.......... but we want to see new things they can do. But really, are they teaching us something we don't already know? I've seen the guy at the Pot Kiln build, rebuild, and rebuild!! At the end of the programmes we see 2001 and even back as far as 1998, come on UKTV get your fingers out!!!

Someone mentioned that they would like to see some GFL repeats. I only saw the last 12 months. So I would love to see some earlier ones.

Would anyone else ?? or are you sick of repeats full stop ? Smile

I suggest UK Food Replay would be a nice channel for those that didn't have cable TV in the 90's. Honestly Grisinni, these programmes have outstayed their welcome - they have been repeated I would say over 50 times since the beginning. No I am not sick of repeats, I am sick of seeing them 50 times. Come on UKTV we are paying for this service.................... maybe I should think about not having all the UKTV programmes in the future...

Absolutely agree!

I posted yesterday on another thread - I really don't like the way they do the programming - especially at weekends - when they focus on two series'. Last weekend's James Martin Digs Deep and Heaven's Kitchen options were so boring. In my opinion the James Martin series should be on UKTV Gardens - there's so little food in it! And as for Heaven's Kitchen - well.....

UKTV Food - new programmes please - even repeats of programmes we've not seen for a while will do!

It wouldn't be too bad if over the 18+ hours they are on air a day, that all the programmes were different. But seeing the same person programme after programme well.......... they wouldn't do it with BBC1+2 so why with UKTV. IS ANYBODY LISTENING TO US OUT THERE. Hellllllllllllllo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The short answer to your question is no. But if you say something nice about Market Kitchen you may get a response. Wink

Market Kitchen is OK, it's new, the only repeats are on the channel UKFood+1, but wait a year or so and you will be sick of MK. I like Master Chef too, but... once again several repeats during the month. I was waiting for the semis, but they aired all the 1/4 finals again. I just don't understand it Confused

Grissini you're right, GFL repeats would be great I think as I'm sure I missed 50% of them and never saw the first two years at all. I note there is another blog where they are asking for GFL repeats to replace MK.

I do agree though about some shows that have been repeated year after year after year. Enough already!

GFL reruns, especially a highlights compilation, would be great! I don't know if they'd drop MK to put GFL repeats back on but there's a lot of programmes that have seen their day and putting the old GFL programmes there would be a good move. Maybe I'd watch UKTVFood again...

TVFoodie - that's even a better idea! Perhaps they are reading this blog and will think about it. Creating compilations of old GFL shows around topics could be quite inspirational. I'm thinking of Easter and Christmas shows particulalry as they have 5 years each of a couple weeks of seasonal recipes and great chefs.

There was lamb recipe done by Ed Baines that I could never find on the web that was done on a GFL show a couple years back that I'd really like to see again. This time I'd write down the method! It looked scrumptious.

Here, here to GFL reruns!!

And, no, I wouldn't mind if it just replaced MK.....

There are repeats - and then there are REPEATS. Yes, the Keith Floyd, James Martin [not truly a "food" show] and Gary Rhodes are tired, Tired, TIRED.

As Esme said, these are way beyond "repeat", there needs to be another word.

But the idea of GFL repeats is great, they've never been reshown. And look at Rick Stein ratings, clearly the viewers have not yet seen enough of these.

But having just been back from the US, I discovered there are zillions of great Canadian and US cookery shows that have never even aired here! Come on, UKTVFood, lift your game!

Cancelling the beautifully formatted and hosted GFL, then creation of this dreary, boring MK and the ongoing, continuous, relentless showing of reruns of reshown repeats is killing you off. You're on self-destruct.

Something is definitely wrong with the programming decisions. It's as if they don't know what they're doing - or don't care about food - or the audience.

I'm not saying that re-runs and compilations shouldn't be shown, however I think they would need to change the name.

Always before when they have done the repeats and compilations this message board was flooded with requests for the recipes and websites of featured items, because they weren't matching up with what was said on the show and the date they came under on the website.

It was bad enough that Jeni said every day to go to the website for all the information, when half the time it wasn't here. Add that to repeating the show and what she said and it got ten times worse. If re-runs, repeats, compilations are done, they will have to be very carefully edited, we have even had discussions about what should be said on the trailers, voice overs and announcements in the past.

I would be interested in understanding the approach taken by those compiling the programming for UKTV Food. Looking at this weekend's offering, Saturday seemed to be completely different to the way the programmes were organised for Sunday. Speaking personally (and I'd be keen to understand what other posters feel) I don't like the style of Saturday where there's a more limited option in terms of viewing (Stately Suppers, James Martin;Sweet etc). Sunday was much more interesting - even if we've seen all of these repeats before.

James Martin seems to assuming the mantle of Rick Stein on UKTV Food - repeated too often!!

IMHO
