Managed to get through almost half of this very amateurish production before switching off.
We were presented with a chef, trying too hard to show that he has a personality, bantering with an unpolished (nay clumsy) female presenter. A wooden (and apparently bored-stiff) audience with scripted questions and a “fiery” debate about kids in restaurants. I half expected Harry Hill to come on and shout “FIGHT”.

Market Kitchen will go down in history as the “Eldorado” of cookery programmes (no, not the legend………….. the failed soap opera).

Angry What have you done. This new programme is awful.
Matt Tebutt is doing his best but there seems to be no chemistry between him and co-presenter Tana Ramsay, do they even like each other.
Please wake up smell the coffee and bring back the programme that everyone loved GOOD FOOD LIVE.
Jenni Barnett was a great presenter and Good Food Live as well as being interesting and informative was also lively and humorous, I am afraid Market Kitchen is just plain boring.

Well the surnames over substance ploy hasn't worked has it?
Amateurish, tedious and not a patch on GFL. Mind you Mrs Ramsay seems to be at home waiting on tables.
Now I've seen it I'll vote with my remote and spend less time watching UKTVFood.
New is not always better you know................

Only watched the first boring half hour of market kitchen = maybe if jeni barnett was presenting it might have had a better start = wont be watching it again
what you have failed to realise is that GFL was an alround programme about serious issues but with a little of lifes humour thanks to jeni = we enjoyed jenis banter with the chefs and other guests = sorry uktv food but another viewer bites the dust

Sorry but I disagree with you. I stopped watching this channel when Food Uncut went off air. The vitriolic comments about Merrilees Parker that were left on this site previously and now the comments about Mrs Ramsay are typical of the petty jealousy and sniping of what I assume to be a minority of viewers. GFL had gone off the boil - it was tired and a shadow of its former self. Market Kitchen has a new and refreshing feel, replacing some wannabe stand up trying to keep afloat a sinking ship.

Bring back Jenni Barnett!!! Tana Ramsay has no personnality, is completely wooden and there is not an iota of chemistry between any of the chefs. No humour, no entertainment, no nothing.
We love Jenni and her outrageousness - Marcus, you say it had gone off the boil but it was still entertaining, Market Kitchen is as boring as a school lesson! And we are voicing opinions, I really don't see how you can say they are "jealous" or "sniping". Jenni is a great presenter, Tana isn't.

I have to agree. Bring back GFL...... I've got nothing against trying something new but I'm really struggling to find anything that I enjoy about the replacement programme. I guess each to their own but Market Kitchen is really not for me. GFL was fun and informative, the chefs were great and you really felt as though you got to know them. I really miss my nightly dose of Jenni!

I agree that Jeni could be entertaining but I also found her boarish and diva-like on occasions. I am old enough to remember the first GFL when Jeni stood there in a mini skirt reading autocue quite badly - she was also quite wooden to begin with. Perhaps the Market Kitchen presenters deserve their chance to get better instead of being xxxxged off as soon as they hit the screen.

I think it's awful as well, there is no oomph, it's actually tedious, and I did try to watch it both days, but turned it off, the presenters have no personality at all, and look very uncomfortable in front of the camera, it is supposed to be new and exiting but we get recipes for fish pie.....how many types of fish pie can you have - I used to enjoy GFL as it was the right mix of cookery and humour and I was always interested in the Chef's lives as well as the recipes., and Jeni was brilliant in getting the most out of the chef's. Between GFL going and all the repeats I have removed UKTV food from my favourites,. Angry Angry

I watched MK last night for the first time.... Half of me says give them a chance, Tana seems nice enough, has a good screen appearance, never stumbled in front of the camera and always has a cup of tea in her hand - what more could you want?
The other half says: The set was too rigid & fake, the background noise preteneded to be a cafe, the poor waman who must have walked six miles up and down behind shot, picking 3 books and making a dish then only commenting on 2 not 3 (I would be a bit miffed if I was Grigson), making 2 pork recipes on Tuesday and announcing Wednesdays show has 2 more pork ideas - do we only eat pork?
I do have to say: GFL was funny, entertaining, always a laugh, Jeni would got drunk and start to flirt with the guests, excellent interviews, broad coverage of subject, daily news and easy viewing.
Food Uncut was brilliant, funny and informative and Merri & Stef were always up for trying new things so you didn't have to, making a mess and having a a bit of fun on TV, I thought it was a good all rounder.
I will give MK a chance, but I will miss the mixture of people you get from GFL & FU.

I have tried to engage with this programme, but have to admit defeat - it is slow, there is no chemistry between the presenters and it is above all boring, please bring back Good Food Live, there is no competition - Jenni rules!

Ok, I hated to see GFL go, but I decided to give MK a chance before I made my mind up totally about it. I tried, I really did, but I cannot get into the show. I've found myself totally uninterested, bored and quite frankly annoyed at what an awful show it is. I also gave the presenters a chance, to no avail. There seems to be no passion to the show whatsoever. I cannot believe GFL was taken off for this, when I guess at a pinch MK could have been shown in the evening with GFL still on at lunchtime. I often leave the TV on quietly when I'm revising as I can't sit in silence, but MK isn't even worth background television status!

Well done UKTV! You dump the most entertaining programme in your schedule and replace it with cardboard. I think a commissioning editor needs to be par-boiled for this gaff.

Just a quick point, is the editor paid by the number of camera angles they use? It got to the stage last night (particularly during the cook book section) where nausea was induced as you really didn't know where you were going next!! Just let us see what is going on and don't try to flick around all over the place.
As a whole, I think the programme needs work and doesn't seem to flow, hopefully, this will come soon (after all they have only been on air for three days). I think Tana will be good but needs to relax a bit more!

having watched a some of the programes to give it a try, i find its posh people in a posh setting. It,s missing Jeni's sense of humour and fun.

Goodness me, what have you done? I am another viewer who was willing to give the new programme a go despite having been a fan of GFL, but I am afraid I also had to turn off after about ten minutes into the opening show, it was just so dull in every way and had absolutely nothing to redeem it. I tried to watch it again today whilst having lunch and lasted about five minutes before turning over. I don't think you will ever win me over with this one I'm afraid, and to think that the reason given for getting rid of GFL was that it was outdated and you felt that it was time to move on to something new. To my mind, what we are seeing on MK has been done before on other programmes whereas GFL was the food programme that was different. I shan't be wasting my time with this programme anymore and judging by the majority of postings on this website, nor will many others.

Oh come on now people! Market Kitchen isn't all bad... there's lots of fun to be had with it. For instance, you can amuse yourselves by counting the number of times the word 'Gordon' is used - I got up to 4,327 in the first ten minutes of today's show - I only gave up because I fell asleep, maybe you can do better? Also, that potato, watercress and oyster soup looked great. I'm going to follow the on-screen instructions and go down my local market and pick up the ingredients... the watercress and spuds shouldn't be a problem but I'm not sure about the oysters. Maybe I can substitute them for something my local market does sell, such as broken glass or old buttons? I'll let you know how I get on.
But the highlight of the show was the Watercress, Blood Orange and Fennel Salad - I particularly liked that Crisp Bread - although probably not as much as Tana. The look of excitement on her face as Matt was working away with his dill dough was truly one to behold.

Classic!
I liked the way the old man was kicking off about no food is junk food - why was he there I ask?
I know why they got rid of Jeni, they needed to pay for all the camera men and extras to make it look like a cafe! Only kidding
I promise to give it another go.
The hairy bikers would be great in there "oi our Tanny hav ye neer goot owa Gordon on to show us reet" Cheeky Cheeky

Ok guys!! Give the people a break and let them find their feet. It is not great Food Live or Food Uncut. They were brilliant programmes and should come back (take note programmers!!!!). Remember, next week there are 2 different presenters - Tom Parker Bowles and Matthew Fort. Also a different chef.

It takes time to ease into a new show (read above comments about Jeni's first attempts). Yes, the new show is a slower, but once they get into their stride, things will improve.

Good luck to the teams and do your best!! Hug

My game of the moment is seeing how often the word "Absolutely" is said by the presenters (with a panicked look in their eyes) per segment.

My sense of this show so far is that there's lots going on, just not much content or entertainment.

Confused
