Can't really comment on the presenters yet but that 'trendy' constantly moving/shaking camera work is irritating me no end. Mad

Well Andygo27 I'm glad you wrote it before I did. I have just watched Market Kitchen for at least ten minutes and have had to turn over. Whilst I appreciate you have to let new programmes 'bed in', the camera work is beyond me. It makes me feel sick and you lose the thread of what anybody is talking about. I just do not understand it at all. Why do they do it ? PLEASE someone tell me. They used to do it on Ainsley Harriets programmes a couple of years ago and I complained about that too, but the production people whoever, replied that that was how they wanted it and basically that was it...........nothing to do with us the viewers............anyway I know how to vote now...............I turn over!.....................Please bring our Jenni and GFL back, my husband even likes to watch the cookery programmes when she's on 'cos she makes him laugh!!!!!!!!!............Me Too.....It all helps don't you think!

I'll give it a couple more days, but I doubt if I'll still be watching by this time next week.

Absolutely awful....no personalities, no talent, a top chefs wife and Camillas son - so representative.......not! Agree with the earlier comments re sponsorship by Waitrose....how very, very twee this programme is...an instant turn-off. Stomach churning garbage, trendy, middle class pigswill. Pigs will also fly if I watch this again!

I have just watched the first 20 mins of market kitchen. What drivel! The presenters are wooden and the 'guests' look bored! So far they have made a fish pie and hacked up a rabbit - hardly ground breaking. I have to declare that i am i die hard jenni fan and nothing will ever replace her, but first impressions last. I was hooked to GFL the first time i saw it. It's all i can do to stay awake for market kitchen, did these people have their personality sucked out before they went on camera?? BRING BACK GFL AND JENNI

Why couldn't GFL have kept its usual slot, then save this drivel for the small hours - say 1am? I agree with scooby about them having no personality.

This may seem childish but I feel sums up market kitchen perfectly and i'm paraphrashing Bart Simpson. "I never thought it possible but this both sucks and blows".

I lasted 3 minutes before turning over but turned back to be fair to them, didn't last long that time either. Terrible. I can't believe that it was filmed about 2 weeks ago and the takes shown were the best posssible, imagine what's on the cutting from floor.

"monkfish, of course everyone knows about that now" maybe everyone who works behind such pointless, vacuous "trendy", whacky camera, faddy tosh such as this has it every night but i don't. i also am going struggle to get the ingredients from our local market unless i they have a recipe for rubbish towels and cheap batteries. elitest tripe. at least GFL tried, was funny, informative and flowed. even the thing with merilees and JC was watchable.

now at 7pm when i get in i get to watch rick stein for the millioneth time and masterchef for the hundred thousandth.

how do we stop this rubbish?

can't believe a tv programme going and being replaced has me so worked up!

Sorry but on first impressions market kitchen will never ever take the place of good food live. The format is lack lustre as are those who present it. UKFood, you have the whip hand as far as food programs are concerned, what have you done? The whole scenario is wrong it is to say the least amatuer in every way. Please rethink your schedules and even if good food live has become history, give Jenny Barnes a prominent role in something, she was the best!

Most dissapointing thing I've seen from UKTV Food, bring back Food Uncut, with it's raw attitude.

Sorry you're onto a looser here.....

I agree Mum, I am reserving judgement on the whole programme, don't seem to have the balance of presenters right at the moment - couldn't really get into it especially with Tana Ramsey - that dish she made you could make it in half the time (fish pie) - too much faffing. Tom Parker Bowles - he doesn't light my fire - I thought Simon Rimmer was going to be involved he would bring more balance to proceedings. But we have to let it run for a while, after all GFL improved with age. Someone should tell Mrs Ramsey to tie her hair back when she is cooking, nothing worse than long hair flying all over the cooking.

I didn't realise that posts on here would be edited. Why, aren't we allowed free speech? So long as there is no vulgarity/threats/swearing, the surely all posts should be allowed to remain. Thats the whole of a chat board, you get different points of view from different people.

Hmmmmmm, someone didn't like my last post either Frown
Scott Free, yes it is good that new programmes are being tried out, but why couldn't GFL have stayed in its usual slot, and Market Kitchen followed on at 8pm. Instead they've got rid of their flagship programme and replaced it with repeats of programmes that were only repeated a few weeks ago. I imagine after a few weeks the programme will settle down, but going on what i saw last week, I'd be very surprised if Market Kitchen has the viewing figures that GFL had.

Unbelievable rubbish, I also lasted 3 mins, turned over and then turned back. My daughter and I then spent the next 50 odd minutes rolling around laughing at how bad it was. The camera work was bad, it was badly edited, the presenters spoke in monotone. It was a bit like being back at school with a couple of very bad home ec teachers. The cooking was basic beyond belief. If she wants to cook food suitable for children, perhaps she should go to the parenting channel!! This was the kind of show that may have done well in the 80's but PLEASE, we have all moved on since then.

Is there anyone out there who can say anything good about Market Kitchen,it was complete rubbish compared to GFL.
If we cannot have GFL back can we at least have something with a bit of "sparkle" to it so we do not die of boredom.

I agree with all the comments made about Market Kitchen. The program was awful. The setting was too large and gave a "barny" effect very impersonal, bad camera work and people devoid of personality. Bring back Jeni she would put some life into it.

Dear UKTV Food.
As promised yesterday, I watched the whole 60 minutes of Market Kitchen (MK) and was left feeling a little sad and very 'lonely' like being lost in a strange city.
It's easy to pass comments on this kind of message board but really, (MK) is a pre-recorded programme so why the 8pm slot as opposed to utilising the successful 12.30pm slot? I retired on ill health last June and have enjoyed daily, the whole interesting format of GFL from the regular wine slots to the interesting people who specialised in such things as 'tea' Indian, Chinese foods and Antiques etc. There were also seasonal vegetable films with a quick 'voice' over recipe by Jenny. I Will not go on and on but I'm feeling really let down by (MK) One big factor missing is the E word, Entertainment!! Yes! someone obviously forgot about that one! Goodbye, for the time being UKTV Food and thanks for the last twelve months of fantastic GFL programmes. Confused

I TRIED - REALLY I DID. Watched the repeat at midnight and lasted about 20 minutes. I know its new etc etc but I don't understand - and maybe I'm being a bit thick - but I thought GFL was being replaced ie at its original time lunchtime!! And i thought it was going to be a live show.

Couldn't figure out what they were all doing and it just seemed 'strange'. And if this is not being on at lunchtime why couldn't GFL stay on!!!!!!!!!!

Jenni may appear to be as Knocker2 describes, but she is a performer.
GFL was interesting and informative but at the end of the day Jenni gave it life, wit, sparkle, fun and made it one of if not the most popular food programme on TV.
During the last programme not only Jenni was upset but many of the great characters who had worked on the show with her and made it what it was GREAT.

I hated the program BUT is there anyone out there who actually liked it? Would love to hear from them.
knocker 2 I think Jenny dived in on the food because she didnt eat before the show and was hungry- according to her. At least she did say if there was something she didnt like.
