The removal of GFL is a disgrace!!
I dare, though, that the channel will treat us all to endless re-runs - something that doesn't happen too often already......

Of course, Market Kitchen isn't another example of hangers-on or siblings making good on the back of their more celebrated friends and/or relatives.

What next? Charlie Drake's granddaughter and Ray Mears' dog exploring the delights of Catalan cuisine?

It's nice to see that UKTV Food hasn't been cheapened......

I can't believe this! Jeni is the funniest wowan on TV - when she gets together with Olly, they are like a couple of naughty kids. I'm really disappointed. UKTV Food - please don't subject us to MORE Keith Floyd or Rick Stein (I love Rick but how many re-runs???), this is a disaster!

I too am upset about losing GFL, especially Jenni and her wit. She keeps me going with her humour, cheers me up when I am down and her relationship with all the chefs is great. Not going to knock the new programme until I've seen it but I too feel that the 'big wigs' that made this decision have been sorely advised, GFL is a programme for ordinary people wanting to achieve better results in their cooking, delivered with humour and in a language everyone understands. I hope the new programme will be down to earth and not 'chefy' and upmarket if you know what I mean. Time will tell. Cry

Like many others I have registered with this web site only to be able to join the message board to protest the axing of GFL and GF Extra, the concept, the program, the experts, chefs and cooks and JENNI.

I started watching while still in my last year at school simply because it was my mother's 'hour and a half of television' daily ration for herself, and because it meant I could start my homework much later than otherwise. I did not get sent to my books because GFL was considered in her mind to be 'educational' for me.

I chose to continue watching it whenever I could having reached university because, through osmosis virutually, I had learned not only to cook in the real sense of the word but also to discover, appreciate and enjoy many things foodie, and even more especially to enjoy the program itself.

Jenni and all her cohorts and crew added light to every day, even those that were deep in exam stress or whatever. She dealt with ever shrinking sets, and quite obvious shrinking budgets, with a flair, professionalism and sheer joie d'vivre that is completely infectious.

The decision to axe the program is inexplicable, perhaps one day someone will explain it to all the loyal viewers who have been asking for some type of sensible answer.

Neither the replacement program description, nor the presenters, are something I personally have any interest in, and like so many others I will find something else to do with the time that for the past five years was used, whenever possible, for watching, learning and laughing with GFL.

For the moment at least:

Goodbye and thanks Jenni, crew, chef, cooks and experts for a wonderful learning experience, and so many hours of absolute fun.

why oh why do programmers change the popular programmes? GFL format has worked since it started, I'm an avid cook and regularly get recipes from GFL. There is room to add new programmes like this proposed Market Garden one but don't take away GFL. It has been a vehicle for new chefs and old alike to show off skills, recipes and restaurants. We've been introduced to food products, wines, sweets etc - overall, what a success story and still going strong. The tv people need to understand that a 'London' programme has it's interest but a programme that appeals to the whole country - nuff said!

Just to congratulate Jenni on a great Finale show.Oh How I am going to miss them all .I cried with Jenni to-day at the end of show.Hope fully the "powers that be " will see the folly of their ways or maybe some other channel will pick Jenni up.I watched the 2 new shows on BBC2 l the other night and they are only rubbish in comparison to Jenni.Good Luck Jenni ---you will be sorely missed.

I have just watched the very last episode of GFL and I know it sounds really sad but I was actually crying! I have been SO inspired by this programme through Jeni's fabulously entertaining presentation the great chefs they've had on the programme and their wonderful recipes. My husband started off not being Jeni's greatest fan but even he's been converted and has been laughing at her mad jokes and wonderful sense of humour! I think it's a great tribute that everyone has been so sweet with their comments about Jeni and the show and I can only hope that we see her and her team ASAP!! With all best wishes to you all.

GFL certainly went out on a high. I laughed until my sides ached and I could not see a thing because my glasses had steamed up.

Thank you to Jeni and the team (including all the chefs, who gave as good as they got) for a great show.

I'd just had my first child when the then Good Food Live started I can't believe he's now nearly 6 and wants to be a chef having spent many happy hours watching GFL then cooking with me. He's a real Little Foodie! They're canning the best thing on the channel. Jenni is just fantastic, hope she does more tv. V sad!

The bosses are morons if they are really serious about finishing this show for good. GFL is fun to watch, and I honestly can't think of any other programme I watch on this channel. Jeni is a scream when she wants to be and deadly serious at other times. A perfect host. Have they given a reason for the show being axed yet ? Did one birdbrain decide to moan about something and so end it all ? We want to know why it's ending.
The chefs were all at ease with Jeni, they were themselves, and not snooty nosed personalityless cardboard figures that you see on other cookery shows.
Let her have a good break and bring it back after summer. The amount of posts on here asking for the show to be saved must say something to the fools that are axing it, or are they just another load of faceless wonders who don't give a fig what the public think ?

I subscribe to the Lifestyle Food channel on Foxtel in Australia primarily to watch GFL. Cancelling it craziness. Jen is a brilliant host, the guest chefs are terrific, and the show is my favourite programme out of the UK. Angry

Frown Frown Frown I too laughed so much but then cried my heart out at the end, and bringing Jim on was genious - we have all heard so much about him over the last 5 years. Jeni was a true professional to the end and is still showing this by presenting the 'best of' all this week, she has more guts than the people behind this decision. My only regret for the last show was that there was no Ollie Smith, he and Jeni make a fantastic team. Good luck to everyone, but come back soon we miss you too much

Blurgh we're getting to the last 3 shows, sadly. Jeni,we worship at your shrine,
you got so much respect because you didn't treat us viewers like idiots. Thanks for all the
laughs but also all the good things we got to learn while enjoying ourselves.
Hope you come and visit us in Australia, we love you.

The Market Kitchen is positively boring, amateurish and only inspires me to change channels - what a load of prententious twonk compared with good old GFL!!

Am totally staggered by the unfathomable logic behind TV bosses' decision to axe GFL & the wonderful Jeni (who, let's face it IS GFL) in favour of the utter drivel filling its slot. None of the presenters could present their way out of a paper bag & certainly none of them (except Matthew Fort) have sufficient gravitas to be taken seriously as true blue died in the wool foodies. OK bosses, you've had your April Fools joke-let's forget all this nonsense now & bring Jeni back. Am willing to bet that your current viewing figures for the once revered lunchtime slot are now absolutely minimal - I for one am treating it now as if it doesn't exist.

I have to agree. Having watched this Market Kitchen I cannot believe how dull and amateurish this show is.

Very disappointed. Great Food Live was unique and should never have been axed!!

Last night my husband tuned in to see what the Market Kitchen was like....I think we lasted 2 minutes (if that!) of the monotone Tana Ramsey. I think the Oysters in that shot had more personality. I know she has written a book and all, and she has a very famous husband, but is this a reason to front such a mainstream show on what I thought (once) was a serious food channel. It's a poor effort at trying to replicate GFL and I am sure it's failing miserably, just like Food Uncut. I hope the viewing figures stop and make the bosses at UKTV food think about giving viewers what they want.
