I have just discovered where this restaurant is, in Amersham, Bucks and it opened today. It is the first of a chain of five and is open from 10.00 am until late evening. Can't wait to try it. Cheeky

If you come out of Amersham station, its a bit to the left of infront of you, under a new block of apartments.

It modern Euro cuising (Italian/Spanish) and although its nice enough, its rather expensive for what it is.

There are two better restaurants that are better value dwon the hill in Old Amersham:- Gibeys is a similar price and style but with more fish/seafood and is better quality and The Artichoke is a bit more expensive, but is very superb. But neither have a celeb chef.

For info on Amersham restaurants, look at the town website

Four of us went to Lemoncello last night and had a great evening. It has a lively atmosphere and great food - we'd especially recommend the antipasti, rack of lamb (beautifully cooked) and the steak with beetroot and caramelised onions (fantastic). The only thing I didn't care for were the paper napkins - when you paying a reasonable amount, you expect real napkins. Ignoring that small point, I thoroughly recommend it and can't wait to go back. Frank spoke to us as we were leaving - he looked exhausted!

Having eaten at Lemoncello several times i wanted to respond to several of the above.....the food is amazing, the wine fantastic and the service is very good. Yes it is not in the low price range but the prices reflect the quality.
As for paper napkins....they are high quality ones so you'd have to be looking for a bad point to notice, nit picking!

Granted Jamaechi, I was nit-picking about the paper napkins but I did say it was a "small point". I did praise the fab food and recommend that people go there, it's a real treat - which is a huge point!

And you get to see Frank as well, good evening! Shame I live to far away to go.

You certainly SEE Frank - he has TV screens playing his shows!

Really not an appropriate vibe for a restaurant in this price bracket.

hughhugh, this is what I meant by my earlier remark about paper napkins - great food, not such great ambience, for quite an expensive meal. Nevertheless, I will go back and have recommended it to friends.

Fair enough. But do remember that there are better places to eat in Amersham and at least one of them is less expensive. See the links in my earlier post.

I have eaten at franks resturant and found it very good, both food and ambience, met frank which is always a bonus. He spent sometime chatting to us and others. I think frank tv is good for the resturant , if you go all that way to eat at least you get to see frank. Recomend it to any one. Nice one frank

hughhugh. There aren't that many reaturants in amersham that's not owned by big chains like pizza express group or prezzo's. if you like pasta or pizza then that's ok, but for really good cooked food, prepared fresh with good wine and feel welcome you must find one off resturants like franks. I'll be back. great puddings

Nonsense! Yes, there are the chains, but there in Old Amersham alone you will find the tiny but exquisite Artichoke, two doors away the excellent Gilbey's and a few doors the other side the fantastic Famous Fish. And that's without even considering places in neighbouring towns or any of the better pubs in the vicinity.

Frank's food is good; but as a restaurant it leaves a lot to be desired and thus is overpriced for what you get - especially compared with the others I've just mentioned.

Frank, I don't know if you still read this forum (I've seen your posts in the past, but not recently). Anyway, I wish you well in extending good food into a good overall eating experience and suggest that:

1 Update the Lemoncello website so that, at the very least, it gives a phone number.

2 Take on board the comments here and also those on www.amersham.ork.uk/forum in the Eating and Sleeping Places section.

Good luck.

Frank is to update his menu very soon and you will see a price drop but not too much. For those who want the phone number of the resturant it's 01494 431100, The resturant is open 10am - 11pm mon/sat and 11am - 4pm sun. It is very nice, have been a few times now for birthdays etc. Mothers day menu looks great, may treat my mum for that one

Totally agree about what has been said about Franks lemoncello concerning the plasma tv.....what is he thinking? In the past it has not been on and the restaurant has been amazing. I don't think that it's over priced as i found the food and wine spectacular and the wine amazing. But the tv a big NO NO it lowers the tone.

Hi there,
well what can I say, so much has been said already!!! Firstly I would like to say that all business is trial and error at first and it takes time and trading to establish customer demands and expectations. These differ from establishment to estalishment so what one person may expect in one restaurant may not be the same as they expect from another (this may be due to location, price, decor, preconception, etc.). Secondly it takes time to be able to establish suppliers and then to negotiate not only quality but economy. We are now in the process of revising both the wine list and the menu in line with customer feedback and with the luxury of being able to pass on the discounts we have managed to negotiate. Hopefully you will return to try us out!?
With regard to the plasma TV it is a bit of fun which we play during the daytime and many customers who are fans of the show have said how much they love it. I can't believe all the talk of ego, etc. It was a bit of fun and it is part of who I am and what I do!
I would like to thank everone who has been so kind and supportive.

F x

Hi Frank,

I respect the fact you have taken the time to read the posts, and take on board what has been said. To be honest i disagree with whats been said about your wine list and menu being over priced. Your prices reflect the quality of food that you are serving....although it would be nice to be able to buy Borollo by the glass.
As to the tv yes it is a bit of fun and i don't believe it's about ego. It is very much who you are and what you do, but we already know that and it destroys any ambience that you have created. Your customers if they want to watch Frank tv can just put on great food live at home......why come out to watch it?! I can't wait to try the new menu as I trust it is as good as the present one! Smile

Hi Frank, I would certainly try your restaurant if I was in your area. I am sure the food would be as good as you are on the programme. Wink

My mum and family had a wonderfull lunch at the resturant on mothers day, the food was gorgeous and the service was good too. The soup and the belly of pork was out of this world. I think the menu you had on that day you should put a couple of those dishes on the main menu as they were really nice. Thank you and your staff for a really relaxing and non stressfull day Big Grin

Another idea is to move to another city or just hang out somewhere different.

I ate at Frank Bordoni's restaurant and thought it was pretty ordinary and overpriced.

For the money the food was ok but there was very little of any interest on the menu.

The atmosphere was noisy and manic as well.

There are definitely other restaurants in the Amersham area that I would choose to visit instead of this one.

I've eaten there too. The food was quite nice, but the overall experience wasn't worth the money for all the reasons others have cited above.

But will this comment survive? I notice that some slightly unfavourable ones both here and on other forums mysteriously disappear?!

Yes I note that my post has disappeared!!!

Instead of answering his critics, he chooses to censor them. How disappointing that the moderators on this site condone this heavy handed bullying, by removing them.

It's a shame when so many thousands of men have died fighting for the freedom of the people of this country that we are not entitled to freedom of speech.

I wouldn't mind if the posts were offensive, when they are just truthful it's another matter.

SHAME on you all. Angry

I went back recently with a group from work. The TVs were off thank goodness and the service was more organized. The food was tasty, but I still think the overall experience does not quite justify the price. But hey... give it another 6 months and maybe it will be!
