I have a yen to make a key lime pie, but all the recipes I see actually talk about Key Kime Juice as an ingredient. Would ordinary lime juice do? or must it be Key Lime juice, if so where on earth would I get something like that in Plymouth? Help!!

I would imagine that an ordinay lime would be fine, i have never made key lime pie but i have made a silmilar thing that Nigella lawson makes. The dish is a cheesecake that is like a chocolate lime sweet,it's absoloutely delish! Develish

Smile Hi wildfrank, I was watching a programme recently from Canada, and the presenter made a Key Lime Pie, and she actually said that using ordinary lemons is ok, she went on to say that Key Limes are rather small, so you wont need as many lemons as the recipe indicates

Hi, ordinary limes should work fine, key limes are small, they are also a lot more sour than an ordinary lime. Taste as you go, if to sour add a bit more sugar, if to sweet add more lime. I wouldn't recomend using lemons though you are making a lime pie, and the flavour is not the same

Frank if you ever got round to doing the lime pie hope it turned out really good Smile you might like to try Annie Rogers lime cheesecake, absolutely delishus Big Grin if you do search up on left it will be there(i always take care with amounts of limes/juices as they can be deceptive when meauring, always under-use then you can add more to recipe as req'd to your own taste Smile
