Why is he the "IRISH GUY ?"

Not being funny, why don't you call Jenny the "ENGLISH LADY ?"

Funny how anyone with a NON-ENGLISH Accent is classified...Irish, Welsh or Scottish before their names.

Well I didn't know his name either and I too would have called him the 'Irish Guy' because that's the best way to describe him as he's Irish and a Guy funnily enough.

I have to say though I'm not sure what I think of him, he doesn't know much about food at all and I can't believe he's never seen a vanilla pod before.

well, by that token paul, is it also xenophopic to refer to gino dacampo as the italian guy, or JC as the french guy, i don't think it's neccecarily about accents, i would refer to silvana franco as that italian woman, and frank bordoni as that italian guy i'm sure when the english go abroad, they are refered to as english people, it's not xenophobic, it's just what it is.

His name isn Brendan Courtney I think he,s great, its just nice they include some otherthings like hoilday destinations and food to eat there escpecially if you want to see both topics and not have to change channel, after all they have gardening on and at christmas they have home decorations included, and it keeps the program fresh from being samey. Smile

Just as an aside to the IRISH problem, what has happened to all the cooking on GFL. It might as well be a holiday programme judging by yesterday and today's offerings. Bring back the old style GFL and give us some more fab cooking PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE!!! Big Grin

I too don't like this "summer live" I think the main problem is Brendan though, he isn't interested in food at all, seems more worried about his weight and tries to be funny when he's not! Mad I love GFL and especially Jenny and want the normal format back! Richard Phillips and Frank Bourdoni are the two Chef's I least like as they have very little personality! They don't shine like Ed Baines, Gino, Brian Turner, Simon Rimmer etc they all gel well with Jenny but Richard and Frank are hard work if you ask me! Richard uses too many ingredients in his recipes, they are over-complicated and it was daft yesterday using a recipe containing asparagus when the English asparagus has finished and we're all trying to buy seasonally so don't want to be buying the asparagus in the shops from abroad! Big Grin

Evan Alan Coxon was better than this twit. At least he has knowledge of food whereas "Brendan" just wants to make glib remarks and "try" to be funny when he is not.

OH JENI - please do something we love you!!!

'Summer Live' is a good idea BUT the focus should remain on food rather than hotels and shopping.

Brendon doesn't seem to know much about cookery but I don't think that's a problem as I suppose the idea is that he will ask some good questions that novice cooks might me thinking at home?
Also agree with the asparagus comment - what happened to cooking seasonally chefs?

Keep Jenni (she is why we watch). Ditch the sidekick as of now. He is a self publicising, non foodie, and strangely inarticulate for an Irishman. Even Jen seems a little uncomfortable.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but the news is this: we are stuck with this pathetic effort by UKTV to blend UKTVStyle with UKTVFood for the rest of the week, and then it's over. However, GFL as we know it actually finished for the summer last week! As of next week it's a month or so of the repeat compilation shows (like the weekend shows).

I rather get the impression Jeni's not a fan of Brendan either, judging by her reactions to him this week... He makes a prat of himself when there's cooking happpening anyway, by saying and doing nothing except make sexual innuendos. Someone ought to tell him that Graham Norton got boring years ago...

well I like the different style,so alittle bit of everything in a program keeps the program fresh,I like Brendan,he,s different, they put gardening and christmas house decorations in for the seasons, whats wrong with some holiday news. Smile so i hope they keep going with it.

We are all moaning about the constant repeats on UKTV Food so why on earth did they not make this tour around the UK and Ireland into a programme in it's own right? It would have been a brand new programme for the channel which is something that is dreadfully needed.

I'm sitting at my computer reading all the comments about Summer Live instead of watching it - doesn't that say it all?!

Yes SallyBB - I have just turned over to the tennis. I cannot watch that idiot any more, and I think Jeni feels the same way, especially the bit about "little fingers". Please get him off, put some more cooking on rather than holidays, its a food programme after all. I am really fed up!!! Angry

I've also just logged in while GFL is on Roll Eyes . I'm afraid that I am my wits end this week what with Summer Live which is just so boring and all the repeats we have to endure!!! Say no more. The foodie programmes are what I enjoy the most and there is nothing worse than having to watch the same thing over and over, year in and year out.

I'm beginning to question why I am even subscribed to Sky! Angry Please bring back the original GFL which we all so enjoyed. We miss the OLD programme and whoever keeps changing the format needs to have a re-think about what the public want.

Having just read about GFL going off air for the rest of summer - well - that means the telly will rarely be switched on. I cannot even contemplate watching the repeats. It's all getting too much. Moan over - for now.
