Let' s have more whisky orientated items on UKTV Food. More so on the fabulous Great Food Live.

There is a whole world to sip and learn from all the four corners of the world.

A true gem of a dram and dare I say it now fashionable.

Let's hear more about the scotch single malt, the timeless blends and the good stuff from the other parts of the world.

There's a whole world of American bourbons that have nothing to do with either Jack or Jim and they are sensational and cheaper than you may think. Also bring on the Japanese whisky's and dare I say it bring on a few drams that may surprise such as scandinavian whisky.

Bring it on !!!

There have been a few programmes on Great Food Live covering various Whiskies over the past year or so.

I was brought up and live in the Grampian region where we have the highest concentration of Whisky producers.

My own local Distillery is Glendronach which was only 5 Miles from where I lived in Aberchirder.

Maybe they should also cover the differing Scotch Whiskies... Highland, Speyside, Lowland and Islay.

They could also cover the fantastic Irish whiskey's that are on the market Like Paddy's, Tullamore Dew, Power's Irish whiskey in it's true form from Cork to Mayo. Develish

Wow, Whisky Ambassador and a distillery at home, life really can't get much better than that.

Lucky enough to be doing a tour of speyside distilleries in September and Isaly later on in the year.

Indeed Irish whiskys which often seem to stand in the shadows of those accross from the otherside Irish sea, are indeed fantastic and have loads to shout about. Also on the plus side they can often be much cheaper than whisky of the scotch variety. But of course it all comes down to plain and simply what you like. Had a few drams of Redbeast a few weeks back, very nice... Smile

You will find the UK taxes are the problem with the price of Scotch.

Be sure to take in the whole of Grampian Wee Dram ... Like most TV and promotional stuff the NE of Scotland gets a raw deal...most people think Scotland finishes at Glasgow and Edinburgh....which means they miss a large part of the REAL Scotland.

Another problem with the Scots we are not very good at boasting about our produce.

The Irish are very good at it.

SO, for once.

We produce the best fresh Salmon in the World, we have a world of fresh fish and the best Prawns (Langostines).

We produce the BEST meat in the whole of Europe and produce the KING of Beef in the Aberdeen Angus.

Our Game cannot be beaten...From Deer too Rabbit to Grouse.

We grow the native Raspberry which only grows wild in Scotland and produce So many good Berries and fruit.

Our Farmers produce so many good Veg.

We produce the worlds favourite drink in Scotch and have the highest concentration of of Distilleries in the NE.

We alos produce so many real ales as well.

Veg, Fish, Fruit, Beef, Game, Lamb, Poultry, ShellFish, Spirits, Beers...Scotland has the LOT.

Its time the Scots stood up for the great produce we have and kicked that battered anything view out of the window.

Scotland has a Natural Larder to be proud of.

Dear Paul,
I would take a little issue with you - you seem to have it in for the Irish - not sure why but i guess each to their own.

Ireland are good at promoting their food because well frankly it is brilliant - not sure i agree that England produce the "BEST" meat after seeing some of the "FARMS" i think you would rethink your note ojn that. Scotland has a beautiful food larder so has Wales so has Northern Ireland so has England and so has Ireland all of them have great food and I am proud of them all. It needs to be more promoted on TV - but i find that more middle eastern/Mexican/indian and continent foods seem to be pushed up front far to often then our great larders.

So agree with you Mayo Queen local producers in all uk and Ireland, are coming up trumps in giving us top quality food I think most intelligent people are fed up of the bland tasting and regulated size of the EU controlled producers and have started supporting the small producers, give me taste every time. Every country has local food, and unique methods of preparing them to their own receipes.Back to the whiskey, is it true that American bourbon is distilled once, Scotch twice and Irish whiskey three times, thereby giving it a smoother taste?!
