I am looking for a blender that can handle smoothie making with frozen fruit.
I freeze pureed mango in ice cube trays and then mix it with juice to make smoothies which is delicious ,but I have alredy broken 2 blenders! they just weren't man enough .I have seen the nu blend by Waring which is supposed to be very good but it is very expensive and what if I break that too!Has anybody found one that can cope with frozen fruit cubes that are harder than ice cubes I think.

I use a Kitchen Aid blender - it cost £99. I do try and take out the fruit and let it defrost a little but it does have an icecube button and it seems to cope fine with that. Having said that I do worry that the blades will get blunt more quickly than if I didn't put ice and frozen fruit in it!

if you don't want to break blender put frozen fruit or ice when blender is running
plus make sure you have any liquid for smoothies already in jar p.s if you can afford it the waring is excellent the kitchenaid blender is rubbish smoothies come out lumpy with frozen fruit

I use a Kenwood smoothie maker and it works fine.

Were the blenders you used designed to cope with ice chopping? Not all blenders have blades strong enough for ice chopping.

As mentioned, always put the ice in and then start the blender.

Leaving the ice for a couple of minutes to thaw a little, and adding any other ingredients right at the beginning will reduce the strain on the blades.

Thanks all for your helpful advice
I think I will have to invest in the Waring blender
I have a birthday coming up so might ask for one then
I feel I am showing my age that I can get excited about getting a blender for my birthday!!

If that doesn't stand up to the task, try one of these:-
