Can anyone help please? I need to save some money this month as we are going on holiday at the beginning of June. I already plan a weeks menus and do 2 day receipes such as chilli etc and buy say a piece of meat that will go for about 6 meals. I spend about £80pw and always buy fresh food. We both work full time and haven't got time to shop around, and have tried our local veg shops but unfortunately it was false economy. I used to cook for a living in my old life so I would say I'm pretty competent. Any suggestions would be very helpful!

ur on the right track with chillis. stews are a good one too. anything that can double up is handy - a spanish omelette can do you for an evening and a lunch the next day, or roast a chicken one evening, have it for lunch in sarnies the next, then a chicken salad or chicken in cream sauce. Buy a big bag of potatoes and do things with them - cheap and filling, baked potatoes with bangers can make a whole meal cheaply.

It really does depend on how stringent you are trying to be. Pulses and grains are also a good one - anything like cous cous, rice salad. have a groovy holiday Smile
