I've always adored Mike Robinson. Apart from the fact I find him very good-looking, I think his rustic style of cooking is tremendous - I would dearly like to be closer to his pub/restaurant, the Pot Kiln, to savour some of the great dishes on his menu.

Imagine my surprise today when on GFL he said that he was reading one of Wilbur Smith's novels, "Warlock". I'd already thought that with his Indiana Jones nickname he would enjoy reading books by Wilbur Smith, but I was more than a little bit pleased when he mentioned this latest one, because it's set in Ancient Egypt, and, apart from good food, my other passionate interest is the land of the Pharoahs, with all its belief in astrology, divinology and witchcraft (amongst a lot of other things)! I've already read two of Wilbur Smith's novels set in Ancient Egypt, one of which was called "The Seventh Scroll" and they were fantastic. Has anybody read this latest book - Warlock? I'm off tomorrow to get a copy. Keep up the good work, Mike, and please appear more often on GFL. (I also love Ed Baines, James Martin and Jean-Christophe Novelli - I can't get enough of them!)

christine - witchcraft IS NOT a part of Egyptian history whatsoever!

However, if you want some recipes I will be happy to give you some that are adapted to cook in the west! Such as Ful, Taimia, Koshari (orignally a coptic lenten dish); Aish is easy to make if you like baking bread. Om Ali et al....!

I spent the best part of the past 3 years in Cairo and Ismalia!
