Big Grin I'm having a dinner party next Saturday and one of my guests cannot have flour or anything biscuit or cake based (was going to make my lovely chocolate cheesecake) - thought about something fruity ??? any ideas would be gratefully received !

Hi Woolywomble - How about a fresh fruit salad served in a light sugar syrup that has maybe a teensy bit of coconut liqueur mixed in?

Alternatively, make up a sugar syrup and infuse some fresh mint leaves. Chop up some red chilli into tiny dice (believe me, it does work). Then slice some fresh pineapple paper thin. Lay the pineapple slices on a platter and pour over the syrup to marinade and voila, carpaccio of pineapple with a chilli mint syrup. Served possibly with coconut ice cream?

Hope this helps. Good luck.

An Eton Mess or summer fruits in meringue nests with creme fraiche would work.

I don't do dessert per sae anymore as we love cheese and if you do a dessert then everyone's really full. So what I do is a good cheese board with about 5 different cheeses and then a fresh fruit platter with a variety of fruit & nuts. i like to experiment with fruits I haven't tried before and also used dried fruits like apricots or dates. Blueberries, raspberries and strawberries are usually there too, i provide crackers or bread for those who want it. It provides a great "wow factor" and conversation piece and if you're lucky enough to find some really unusual fruits - it's a great conversation stimulator too.

How about a chocolate fondue, terribly 70's but great fun, with fruit and stuff to dip.

or some really good vanilla ice cream, put a scoop into an espresso cup and put back into the freezer, then when you are ready make espresso and pour ove ice cream and serve, in the cups......I think this may be a NIgella recipe.

If it is a wheat allergy, then Nigella Lawson's Clementine cake is gorgeous. It is made with ground almonds and no flour and is gluten free as well

Put a few clementine slices at the side and a good dollop of nice cream and you are away.
Alternatively a good big Pavlova Chocolate is nice with raspberries, and white chocolate drizzled over the top.
(An easy one is M&S meringue bases, dipped in Green and Blacks chocolate melted and left to set, with your choice of cream and fruit on the top. Again drizzled with more choc)
