It may surprise you but I dont know everything.

I went shooting the weekend (first time and it hurt) and bagged a rabbit.
Does a rabbit require hanging (as if shooting the poor thing was not enough)
I know hares do, so would be natural to conclude a rabbit should be treated in a similar fashion.

If anybody can be of assistance.

If anybody can force me out of hiding its the mighty 55%Banana admiting he is at a loss!! Oh there is a god!! Big Grin Big Grin

Simple answer Banana is no it does not need to be hanged though I hope you have dressed and cleaned it ie gutted it making sure the liver is free from white spots and obvious signs of illness.

If you have not done this by now then I would consider throwing it away as ungutted it will make the meat taste funny.

Hope this is of help.

Hello light, as you are helping I will ignore the attack at the begining of your post and also turn a blind eye to the countless grammar problems your post is littered with.

You have me worried now what does the white spots you mention mean?
Maybe I should throw it away as I have not gutted it yet. Will it have spoiled by now?

Your too kind.

You should dress it as soon as you have killed it.

A its easier and B safer. The white spots are a sign of illness, if it has them then discard the whole rabbit, also check for myxy you dont want to be cooking a rabbit that has myxy trust me.

My fridge is full of rabbits I dress them as soon as possible and freeze what I am not going to use.

If you are taking up shooting Banana then maybe you should check out RC.net loads of help on there but try to be nice.

Light.

Hello Tina.

Light, must say thanks for that and also for directing me to RC.net, what a brilliant site!.

Everything you could possibly want to know about, is on there from cookery to Landovers.

Lost almost 4 hours last night on there reading and learning, facinating place.

Brilliant site.
