I have family who really don't like mixed peel. What can I do to substitute that in Alan's mincemeat

Hi chimes -

The weight of the dried fruit and peel add up to 475gr. I would use 200gr of raisins and 200gr of sultanas. Make up the other 75gr by peeling and grating a large cooking apple, or some apple and some slivered almonds.

Do they like glace cherries? They would be a nice addition and chopped dates.

Hi Chimes - Someting you don't like - not main integral part of recipe(then guess you would not make anyways) leave it out. Something like mincemeat - as already suggested you can add alternatives: Chopped up soft dried apricots are also good. I hate peel - well the usual dried sort - quite like the 'semi dried' large piece variety that you cut up yourself. Smile
