I have been serving CARROT AND SWEDE mash for years, but unlike Tamasin I do not add some of the saved strained water that is for the gravy. What I do add is a generous knob of BUTTERand ground black pepper, it is DELICIOUS. do try it I don't think you will be sorry, and it is so smooth.

Hi, I too like mashed swede and carrot, but have you ever tried it this way.Slice the carrots, dice the swede and place in an ovenproof dish,mix together melted butter,some orange rind and the juice,big pinch of ginger and nutmeg, plus salt and pepper. Pour over the veg and cover with foil, bake in oven 190c till cooked. Smile[link]

We have ours mashed with butter, egg yolk, black pepper and nutmeg.

Have you tried carrot, swede, orange and ginger soup?
