I turned on GFL yesterday to see various people raving about a Panna cotta made with marscapone. I did not see who made it nor can I find the recipe. Can anyone help, please

Frank Bordoni did it but the recipe on the website lists creme fraishe in place of mascapone.

Hi there, okay confession time... Eek the recipe does indeed say creme fraiche not mascarpone and it is my fault. Actually the recipe I use originally has creme fraiche in it, but you can happily substitute the same quantity of cream for cheese. When the mascarpone gets hot it liquifies anyway but you will need to reduce slightly the amount of gelatine used as it will become firmer when chilled again.

Panna cotta - Help Please!
This looked yum but as my other half is veggie can you suggest a veggie alternative for the gelatine used in the recipe? I've heard of agar agar but def can't find it in Perthshire! Any suggestions welcome! Confused

Thanks for the help. I have used Rachel Allens recipe with cream and milk which is very good, but sweet. This one seems to take some of the sweetness out of it.
Thanks Frank for owning up to the mistake and explaining what to useand how to use it!

Monza you can buy vegetarian gelatine now in most shops. It is made from a seaweed called agar agar. Big Grin

Frank - Why can buy now? agar agar has been around since pre 70's (earlier??) - Love, stuff, flower power and veggies mostly could only get that truly awful 'meat substitute' soya so badly artificially flavoured to taste like 'meat'. My pet hate is veggie dishes made to taste/flavour meat? Why? To me defeats object of having a non meat day (or two)
oops showing my age! Big Grin
PS How do you find the time to read and answer on messageboards - grateful you do participate tho
