the recipe does indeed say creme fraiche not mascarpone and it is my fault. Actually the recipe I use originally has creme fraiche in it, but you can happily substitute the same quantity of cream for cheese. When the mascarpone gets hot it liquifies anyway but you will need to reduce slightly the amount of gelatine used as it will become firmer when chilled again.
