Some people obviously like to watch animals suffer, yet others believe there are more humane ways of putting an animal on your plate. I on the other hand wouldn't ever eat cray fish.

Each to their own hey!!

Smile It was good. Although like all new kitchens things didn't fit. Wish mine had been all completed in 2 dyas rather than the month it took.

Not sure about a dvd though. Try watching UK Food at 9 during the week they had been showing all the episodes last week at that time so maybe u'll be lucky.

You don't need to apologise for being SQUEAMISH. I'm not keen on seeing animals killed/skinned on tv but i agree with previous comments that this is where food comes from so get over it - or don't watch. And those crayfish (American signal crayfish) are killing our native crayfish - in the way that McDonalds has tried to kill our palates.

Does anyone know the make/supplier of his white porcelain please?
I very much enjoyed the show. A very fresh approach, by a chef sincere in his beliefs. Entertaining and informative.
Re the French kitchen. Just a thought. Mike seems to want quality and a good price. A wonder how a British supplier would have measured up? Are there any left with so much of our manufacturing industry departed offshore.

This is my first time posting so sorry if this post doesn't fit in this thread. I'd just like to say that I do agree with pretty much everyone in one aspect or other: I loved the show in itself, it showed the behind-the-scenes aspects of opening a restaurant quite well, and the recipes, even if a little useless for city-dwellers or people with no access to the less common ingredients (such as muntjack for instance [no idea if that's spelled right]), were really inventive and looked very good. On the other hand, I do agree that there were a lot of things that could've been done very differently, such as showing the skinning of the deer and the cooking of the crayfish (I for one, being a huge animal lover, felt ill when watching him dragging the deer along with its head bouncing on the ground, and if you think the description's too graphic then obviously you can't have noticed the images on the show)

I'm not saying he shouldn't do things like that, but I do think he, or the producers, could've done a lot better job in being more careful about any of the more sensitive viewers.

On a completely different note, my parents have been going on about this ever since the show first showed the painted dining room of the building: does anyone know who I'd need to contact to find out what colours of paint were used for the walls? My parents have suddenly decided to repaint the living room Roll Eyes

Btw, sorry this is so long, I tend to ramble a lot Embarrassed

Baboush, liz and cygale should realise that food doesn't ppear in little plastic packages. Baboush if you can pluck a chicken then why is skinning a rabbit so offensive! Roll Eyes

So because I don't like watching animals being boiled alive that makes me think they come from plastic packages. Hmm yeah ok then!

I just wished the programme had warned me in time so I could have turned over!!

moden - are you sure you can read?? If the answer is yes, then read again & again my posts until you comprehend exactly the contents of my replies, ok?

And then highlight for me :

1. where I said that I believe that food comes in little plastic packages.

2. where I said I find skinning rabbit offensive.

Being squemish & being offensive are completely different from each other, check your dictionary if you're not convinced.

In the meantime save your misguided preaches to yourself, ok! Angry

And kazwilkie ...ahh forget it you're not worth it, another one who tends to make a sweeping wrong conclusion & quickly jump on the bandwagon of point scoring!

Just one thing kazwilkie - I put my money on you that you haven't even gutted & cleaned fish before & I'm not even talking about small ones like sardines!!! I'm talking about large ones where you cut them up & you see small fishes inside them which they galloped up for their lunch! And yes I was squemish but did it so my mom can buy me a pair of new earrings for my coming 13th b-day (many moons ago). After that experience cleaning fish for me even now is nothing although I prefer the fishmonger to clean them up for me now & why not if they're happy to do it for you although I can teach some them a thing or 2 about gutting fish.

Like I said I grew up in a country where people buy fresh food everyday before all mod cons tookover.

So don't talk to me about not knowing where my food comes from! Angry

Baboush I would just ignore them. I thought this thread was dead and buried until someone started the whole thing off again.

Sometimes I wonder if these people are still at school. It's all very immature at times.

still at school cvgale, yes I think you must be. you and baboush are the most chidish ones here, always trying to stir up trouble, belittle other people and be rude. grow up, it is not just you who has opinons.

I said I didn't like this programme and have had uncalled for comments thrown my way. For Gods sake, so I don't like seeing animals being cooked alive... I dread to think how you all treat vegetarians.

I think I'll call it a day on these message boards. Its hardly like you can express an opinion on here, I really really don't like seeing animals being cooked that way and if I can't mention it on here without a load of abuse then I won't bother.

And by the way Drift I am genuinely upset by this. I have strong beliefs in many things including the way food is cooked. I can't believe I offended you with my opinions because they shouldn't affect anybody else, just me and who the message was aimed at... in this case the programme/channel. I really wanted this thread to be done with but someone had to drag the whole thing up again. Aah well, life goes on I suppose.

I can't believe that you really think you can say anything you want and it not offend anyone. Posting on here you are making a public statement. You are very quick to say what you think and critisise programs and people, you offend with your comments but then cry to mummy when someone tells you they don't like what you say. This is not about crayfish it is about your attitude to the chanel and other members of the board.

Freedom of speech? If everyone had the same opinion, what a boring place this World would be!! There would be no place for debates. Can't we all have our own opinion without personally attacking others? Life's too short.

I have just watched an episode where organic slug pellets were mentioned, does anyone know the company manufacturing them ?

Hi IzOz

Not sure of the manufacturer but if you're in the UK - quite a lot of garden centres and the likes of Homebase and B & Q are now stocking organic slug pellets.

If you can't get to any of the above - have you tried crumbled egg shells? coffee grinds? or copper bands? All of which work for me.

Good luck in your search
