There are ten parts paulbf.

Is there a reason why paulbf shouldn't ask for information such as that baboush? It is a good bit better than making negative comments to someones first post on the boards surely?

Mike Robinson is talking all the time about using local produce. everything being scoursed for his pub from within a short distance. What I find hard to understand then is that he has had a £30,000 kitchen built in France, dismantled and then shipped to England to be rebuilt in the pub. Why did he not use local tradesmen and import the equipment he needed. Liz

I didn't mean it to sound like I'm being sarcastic, honest! It was just me rather baffled by such a question & really rather curious on why paulbf needs to know how many eps, just thought it was an odd one.

He didn't exactly say why or at least mention that he loves the show so much that he probably wants it to go on & on or that he hates the programme that he might want it to finish soon....i don't know. Hence my question.

Sorry paulbf, wasn't being nasty or anything.

I think this is one of the worst shows on UK TV Food at the moment. It's dull and boring and I have no interest in it. The reason I am so annoyed about it is because on todays episode he just casually threw a load of cray fish into boiling water saying he didn't care because they were a menace and vermin! He did not show any sadness for killing animals in an awful way and to be honest I didn't really want to see it as it upset me.

I can think of another species that is much bigger vermin and a much much bigger menace!

i wanted to know how many episodes there were going to be, because i wanted to record them, and my sky + would not series link it. this is now sorted . thankyou terrydox for the information. i think it is a wonderful series , and totally agree with his ideas on local produce. but i must say i couldn't understand why there wasn't an English kitchen manufactuer that he could have used. Local produce, local tradesmen, foriegn kitchen. Confused

Anyone can see that the organic garden in this show is about large enough to feed a large family, where is the produce coming from after this runs dry? I am sorry to be negative but i thin this programme is boring and has been made purely to help fund this project. I wish Mike would do something instead of enthusing about killing wild animals etc

Not happy with getting the rude comments about Ainsley removed liz has moved to Mike Robinson. What a charming bundle of fun you are liz.
I never comprehend why so many people watch shows just so they can go on websites, or write to the papers to xxxx them off. Use the buttons on your remote control to watch something you do like, if there is anything that can satisfy you.

baboush, cvgale, liz, little jo and nocturne do a fantastic job of tearing every program and presenter apart. Why?

Angry hey liz where do you think the food you eat comes from just a supermarket or what....get a grip on reality!!!!!

Windybottom... I don't like this programme because he boiled a load of animals alive... something I don't want to see to be honest.

I'm afraid I'll choose what I like and what I don't like... this message board gives me that option.

Knightline i do have a grip on life and make it my business to know exactly where my food comes from,as much as possible organic. We grow many of our own veggies so I know how much space is needed. We grew potatoes everywhere in the garden this year and also in pots, loads more than the 4 rows Mike has planted to serve the restaurant and we just had enough to keep our own family afloat. I was making an observation which i think I am entitled to do!!!

I've eaten at Mike's restaurant a couple of times now as, like Mrs Pud, I'm local (cue League of Gentleman quips). I'm probably not allowed to provide recommendations (the food and service are both great Big Grin ) but having watched the series so far have a greater appreciation of what I'm eating and where it has come from - surely that's a good thing?

And Mike's right - the crayfish are a menace as they are squeezing out the native species.

I like the program, I agree Roz2, the crayfish are a menace, a real menace, the bright spark who introduced them here has a lot to answer for.

Apart from that, now cummon cvgale (Carol?) you did start off saying "I think this is one of the worst shows on UK TV Food at the moment. It's dull and boring and I have no interest in it." which I found a little harsh Smile

liz, I think knightline is refering to your comment about Mike enthusing about killing animals not the lack of veg being grown. But on that point they can only show so much in the program and if he has any sense, and I am sure you will agree, he will be sowing potatoes regularly for a sustained crop, as with the rest of the vegetable garden, especially an organic one, rotation and optimum use of space is the key.

Ok fair point, it isn't really the worst programme on UKTV Food... I could name worse. But I'd typed that message just after watching it and was really annoyed for seeing the boiling incident. Menace or no menace, I felt upset after seeing it.

I've not bothered to watch it since, so wouldn't really know if it is good or not.

And Rosti my name is Carol. Thanks for remembering/noticing Smile

windybottom

I urge you to show proofs that I tear EVERY program & presenter apart because if you can't then you're totally out of order & misguided! Angry

So I don't like one or 2 ( at the most) certain cook/chef, so what. Same token as when I like other cooks I sing praises about them too. I'm sure others do have certain favs & dislike also. The difference maybe is that I'm vocal about it.

But that's what the forum is about so we could all express our opinions/comments.

Please read back my posts in reply to the OP & you'll gather that it's nothing to do with dissing the show at all.
In fact I like Mike Robinson, that he could be presenting a maggot eating contest and I'll still watch it! Big Grin

So windybottom ( btw I think your username is rather cute) before you start generalising try to be more factual.

Have a nice day!

I'm extremely a squemish person, so when I saw Mike tieing up something (I think it's a rabbit) on the tree......uuuugghhh, talking about switching channel before he says harakiri!!!!!

Oh Mike why did you have to spoil my breakfast for me????

having read all of the coments about this program , i'm amazed with the reaction of people to general facts about where are food comes from and how its prepared. all meat , fish ,crustations were all living at one time , and not wanting to know how they end up on our plates , because it puts you off your breakfast is appaling. if we are to eat meat , lets have at the very least an understanding of what it was when it was alive, and how it got to us. it didn't just turn up in our supermarkets. Frown

I won't apologise for being squemish, can't help it, what do you want me to do keep watching while throwing up at the same time!!!

I can handle anything else apart from seeing animals being cut up like that but I don't disagree with that at all!! Of course it has to be done & someone has got to do it but I rather not watch it myself....and that's why I switched channel pronto!

Just so you know when I was a young girl I had helped my grandma & mom plucked chicken feathers & enjoyed that experience but when a team of men started to cut up a pig I ran back inside the house scared!!!!

...and knightline, you don't know me and I can tell you that I probably know more about raising chickens, pigs, about fish, & seafoods more than you'll ever know!!! So don't you dare lecture me.

My family originated from the Far East where animals et al are part of our daily lives, it's our culture FGS!.
