Its my uncles birthday on wednesday and he likes a good bottle of wine yet I dont have clue, so what would be a nice wine to send as a gift, it can be red or white...your help is appreciated

Love wine myself and have tried all sorts. The bordeaux wines are always a safe bet, St Emilion is always pricey but Medoc is just as good and not as expensive. Pecharment is also from the same area, uses the same grapes and is lovely, nothing like as expensive and a real find for a wine buff, if you can get it over here. Just try a web search for suppliers.

However, you'll probably have more luck if you look to Spain and a really nice Rioja Reserva. 1994, 1995 (if you can still get any!) and 2000 all good years. Depends on how much you want to spend.

Thankyou so much for your ideas, I have found 2 really nice wines one being a 1995 rioja reserva and a really nice light white wine from france a chateau de nages...once again thanks for your help

For a present wine to someone who enjoys it and knows their stuff I always go for either a nice bottle of Chablis (white) or a Chateauneaf du Pape (red). My dad says Chateau Margaux is the biz, but you'd probably need to spend £40 plus!!

A nice refreshing Chablis - I recommend Chablis 1er Cru or Petit Chablis.
Sancerre is another fine wine as it Cloudy Bay, Chardonnay.
Red wine, again Chateaaneuf du Pape 2002 though as 2003 was not a very good year. All quite expensive but affordable for a present. failing that a nice warm bottle of lambrini never harmed anyone!!!!!
