Herbs in Germany

Hello im in the British forces in Germany. im a new chef so i would like to know what are the names for the herbs in the shops because some of the names i believe dont relate to the uk. so please could you help me. Its a long question but i do need the help to make the dishes on uk food live to work yours thankfully goateye.

Excuse me!! I just put a post here that said what certain herbs and spices were in German!! goateye, I think you'll have to go and ask an English-speaking German or a German speaking English person. Confused

Hi Goateye, welcome to the board.

Hmm, this is a bit of a tough one. Our guidelines state that foreign words aren't allowed on these boards...which doesn't help you much! This could turn into a bit of a saga, but how about describing one of the herbs, what it looks like / tastes like / dishes it's used in, then perhaps we can help. Could actually be quite fun.

I have the whole list if I could print it but I cannot!! so try babelfish translation I just typed in cumin and it came out with the correct german translation

Hi, I used to live at JHQ Rheindahlen and found that the Hive and Salmond House had a list of foods translated into English."Housewives shopping list"I think. Even then some were not available but shops in Holland always had the ones we are used to in the UK. NATEX stores had lots too.
