Have I got this right?

I have posted to say I quite like the new set up here-but I'm not sure if I've got this bit right. It appears now that threads no longer go to the head of the line when someone adds to them, and they are placed in order of the date they were first posted-is that right?

Does that mean that people will give up adding to a thread that is more than a couple of days old-because it's less likely to be read under the new system? Indeed-is that the point of the exersize?

Not so sure I like it afterall-where's boney's petition!!!

Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

I think they are having a few problems, but I think it will be for the best when it is all finished. They are sorting the place in order, its another techn hitch.

Where is Boney?

I thought the change to keeping threads in order of the date started was a permenent change not a hitch. I saw Vic post about the change that the lastest posting no longer zipps to the top and havent seen anything to contradict that. There seems to be a general feeling it is to get rid of Boney and his games, I cant see that they would go to these lengths just for that. Nice result having said that

I have just encountered a problem with this method. Someone asked for a recipe who is new to the site. I added the recipe but it didn't move to the top so would the newbie see it? Not sure. Confused

Well if they go back to look at the thread they will, and it could have dropped out of the most recent and also moved down the list, under the old system, by the time they come back to look anyway.

I think one of the extra's that will happen by the relaunch date is that the latest posters name will go on the the listing, so that will help with finding and checking things.

What would also be nice is to have a little symbol or something next to the thread if a new post has been added, just to draw attention to it on the list. Then you just scroll down the lists and pages and will be able to see straight away if there are any new posts.

Also don't forget the search facility, if you type caramel slices into it and select chat, you get a list of mentions of caramel slices, including yours Jenny.

That's a good idea Fantasia-I often checked posts by looking at who posted last-so your suggestion is just as good in this new format. Wink
