Do you have to book david? we live in wigan, but often have the day at chester, such a lovely place. We always used to have our lunch at a pub right at the top of the main st, on the left, but then they strated only serving wraps, and it was rubbish!

Been there for the set lunch menu and very nice it was too.

The slug and Lettuce in the old Owen Owen site is also a nice lunch time break from a heavy shopping trip. I can recommend the shareing platters - and a glass of house red.

Sorry didn't get back to you sooner. i wouldn't think you would have to book at lunch unless it was a race day. I would book at night because they have not got a great deal of space.
I have been back 3 or 4 times since I last wrote and can confirm that the food is out of this world. I can honestly say that as a self confessed curryholic, the curries served up here are the best I have tasted, especially the Chicken curry with kaffir limes leaves which is cooked with tamarind, absolutely exceptional.

Bridgie, went there last week as we were having long weekend in Chester, you were right, food was excellent. We go to Chester couple of times a year as its lovely place would now always go to the Ruan Orchid for at least one meal each visit.
