I think it would be nice and hygienic if chefs on the show use cooking utensils to mix salads rather than with their hands. Some chefs don’t even wash their hands before putting it in a salad. I had food poisoning in the past (Nando’s to be specific) because of this. Who ever is responsible for the show, utensils, hands etc should endeavour to tell the chefs to use cooking utensils rather than their hands.

Oh my! I always use my hands to toss my salads and to knead my bread and to rub the butter into the flour when I make pastry

true but in resturants and very busy places, members of staff may forget to wash thier hands. I have seen one or two chefs on the show forgetting to wash thier hands. Sadly i would not eat your salad Frown

Hands are the best tools ever. For the show, they are showing folk how to prepare their food @ home. As for restaurant cooking, any member of staff be it chef, assistant or whoever, should have a food hygiene certificate and know the necessary protocol for the washing of hands etc. Nsabasi, seems unfortunate that you have had a bad experience.

i think hands are the best utensils for cooking, and if you are a good and caring cook then the food will always be hygenic Smile

I use my hands a lot too, but it is nice to see them washing their hands as they cook. As long as they don't wear nail polish! ! Angry
Like those two fat ladies!

yeah i agree that hands need to be spotless. Wearing gloves is a good idea especially for chillies and garlic Big Grin
