I have seen Richard on GMTV I think he is a decent sort of chap. Give him a chance. No one can replace Jeni of course, but he does have a good sense of humour. When is Jeni coming back?

I like him, i think he is great and a good stand in for jenni whilst she is doing other things. Lets try to be positive cos lets face it Jenni is a difficult act to follow many have tried and failed and not come back. He is winning a good few over just like Jenni did when the programme first aired.
I love the show keep it up chaps Tongue

Soz to disagree relish but Rich is repetitive, just my little opinion and he is not open to trying everything, a must for food presenters. Big Grin

I agree with bubbles71 and englishmrs, Richard Arnold is absolutely awful. Can only watch the programme in small doses. Frown

Roll Eyes I do wish Richard would stop waving his fork around as he talks. his mother oviously failed to stop that unpleasant habit, it is now up to UKTV Food to remind him of basic good manners. He is fine in small doses and good as a reviewer on GMTV.

Why are so many of you so down on Richard, I think he's like a breath of fresh air - yes Jeni is great, but when the programme first started it took her a while to settle in and for people to get used to her style of presenting. Change happens and I for one think Richard is a terrific stand in and miles better than some of the giggling girlies that have guest presented, so please get over yourselves and give him a chance.

Today Richard excelled himself - at being the worst ever and looking more uncomfortable than ever. Jeni is a hard act to follow, there's no doubt about that, but Richard tries too hard to be funny and isn't. Even Gino didn't seem as good to watch today, he and Jeni are a great double act but Gino looked a bit uncomfortable with Richard's 'campness' as did Alan Coxon. I wish Jeni the best of luck with her career - only please, please come back soon. Barbara. Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

I would just like to say I think Richard Arnold is doing an excellent job especially last week with Simon. They worked really well together. Lets see more of him.

I tend to agree that Richard isn't as good as Jeni, BUT, he is so much better than Jane McDonald who presented some time ago when Jeni was off...she was dreadful!!!

I think Richard has his speciality in presenting, but GFL isn't it. I've seen him on other stuff which really suited him. He's brave for trying though.

bdp - just watched GFL and GFB recorded from earlier today - I am a Richard fan, so a bit biased, but really can't understand your comments - at which point did either Gino or Alan look uncomfortable??? The programmes I watched showed A & G laughing and looking totally relaxed. Maybe the people who dont seem to like Richard have other issues??

The odd day is ok but personally i find him hard to listen to. He goes off on tangents like today with Nancy Lamb she had finished the scallopes and was waiting to go on and he was prattling on about the colour of prawns, i am afraid i threw my arms up in the air and changed channel. Everyone to their own Wink

I've been following this trail with interest - liking both Richard and Jeni, I'm a complete neutral. I think the big difference is Jeni seems to be as enthusiastic as the chefs on the food and recipes being discussed - I remember a trail recently where someone noted her use of the word 'fantastic!' !! Richard is a friendly, bubbly general presenter, but doesn't seem to have that same enthusiasm about the food - there are a lot of dishes where he doesn't like some of the ingredients. I still watch with interest (especially with Gino on the screen!) but Jeni does bring that special something to the programme.

Richard, we love you really, but I really think GFL is Jeni's baby!!

Ann I agree with you. I thought he was a bit rude to Nancy Lam, While Nancy was cooking and explaining what she was doing he kept on talking to the lady they had on.
I do like Richard but I felt he was a bit off with Nancy.

I like Richard too. It is great that he is not trying to imitate Jenny (This is impossible) and that he is developing his own style. I do like his jumpers too!!!!!!!!!!!

i feel that i have to say this, but the majority of the people on GFL/B look on these boards,

how would you feel if YOU (the people who are being negative about certain presenters) read very negative things about YOURSELVES i think YOU would be totally gutted

so like my mum told me, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all Angry
