I've been toying with th idea too-I was told by a lecturer at college that we should all be eating 9 yes 9!! portions of f&v per day-I'm struggling with 5 tbh, but I guess juicing is the easiest way to do it.

Check it out a bit more first Suemc, there was quite a large following of the idea a while ago that "juiced" did not count as a full portion. The main reason being that the fibre was taken out I think. But not really sure now. There was a discussion about it on here if you can find it.

Have you seen the juicer-or should I say pulper used in the "You are what you eat" series. That gave you PLENTY of fibre-not sure how easy it is to drink though, rustie. BTW re:future of this website-I can tell from all the postings that you are a valued contributor but comments such as yours to me can cause upset. I was having a bit of friendly banter with megypop to make light of the issue I raised. I wasn't expecting a side swipe!

And before the post here, megypop hasn't posted since dec 6th so I am a loss unless you didn't like my reply about juicing. If so I am sorry. Only trying to help as this has been discussed before.

What more can I say?

Sorry not to have make myself understood-easily done on these postings. The post I was referring to was tonight's, I just felt a little put out when you said I should "check it out a bit more"-I am a scientist medear (I think I know what I'm talking about)and btw I wasn't around when the fibre thread was going

SUEMC - maybe you are a bit sensitive - couldn't see anything wrong with Rusties post. I heard a nutritionist on the radio last week and she said that the juice was not enough to say you get your 5 or 9 portions because you only get the juice and not the fibre. She suggested that you add in a bit of the extracted fruit content. But if that particular juicer gives the fibre as well go for it. To be honest I thought I was doing so well getting my mix of 4 fruits in the morning till I learned that the fibre is needed as well. Rustie was only being helpful

MEGYPOP - to answer your question, there are lots of things for you to read if you type 'juicer' in the search for box in 'chat' if you type'juicer mad' you will come across a discussion both rustie and i were part of some time ago. keep reading down and a few people say how much they have paid.i was telling the person thinking of getting a juicer that metal teeth are the way forward - especially if you want to juice veg too.
hope this helps.

You think you are having problems Sue, I have just tried to google scientist medear to find out what you did - big DOH!

btw I used to be a physicist in a former life but I think my brain cell half life has just taken a turn for the worse. I am sure the lem-sips are to blame!

Past experience tells me that I am going to regret this post tomorrow morning. I hate man-colds! They are just so much worse than anything else!

Errrr well I'm glad we have sorted things out, well I think we have. (medear?) Oh Terry my dear!! lol Keep taking the Lemsips.

Anyway, to claify my muddled post.

I have heard reports that "just" having the juice doesn't count as much towards the recommended amount, there is a previous discussion from before some people were here, and I also believe that a lot of advice has been given about different machines that people have bought.

Thanks Sugar Smile
