I like to make my own tuna mayo using canned tuna but it always seems that there is something missing and I don't know what, does anyone have any tips when making their own? Confused

What you need is some taste to it. I like to add some Chives, Basil and Mint. Fresh if available. If you want to go Posh, you can add some sliced Olives and a few capers.

What Mishymoo said is also good idea. Just be creative. But be carefull of the Cucumber as if you leave it in the fridge too long it might get watery. This is why I use Chives instead of Onions. Onions tend to make water and the tuna gets runny.

For future reference when ever making any kind of Mayo salad do try to avoid onions and use Chives instead. Many a time I prepared the salad early and when taking it out of the fridge i notice it is a bit runny.

A squeeze of lime and a pinch of cayenne or dash of tabasco for a spicy little number. Yum! Cheeky

A small amount of salad cream adds a bit of a zing

It just came to my mind that if you ever bought a jar of tuna sandwich spread you would realize that in the mixture there is diced bits of Pickles in it.

Shnookina - love the name - a cousin of my dad's in the States used to put in finely chopped celery and cracked black pepper - I still do it this way and love it. Celery just makes it nice and crunchy

Oh Tina, I didn't know you like "Hobz bi zied" We take that with us on the beach. Somehow it tastes better on the beach. It is suppose to be a Maltese recipe as you know. I also spread the bread with Black Olive Pate (meshed balck olives)

That is strange why your post was removed. I have written recipes before and never got deleted.Maybe something else was said in it that wasn't approved. I can't remember what you said so bad.
