As you may or may not know, Ching He-Huang has a new series coming up on February 5th, which is all about Chinese cookery. A regular of Great/Good Food Live, you may already know the lovely Ching, if you don't, you can read up her biography on the website at [link]

Anyway, we'll be featuring her as our message board 'chef of the month' (an idea we'll be playing with in the next couple of months) and would like to ask you all to come up with some questions to ask her. Don't worry, you've got plenty of time to think something up - we'll start preparing questions now to ask her on 7th Feb, when the show will have already started. The ten best questions go through...

Look forward to hearing your questions,
Ramona

At last a new show on UKTV Food and I too like Ching ( also Kylie Wong/Kwong). I've been so disappointed so far on what's being shown on this channel lately. I don't really want to see repeats of Can't cook, won't cook, not keen on Food Hunter nor Eating up and the Delia series is just far too boring for me now.

Also like to add I love Sylvana ( all The Best team) but have to say I'm rather disappointed on her new show Hilo Club, just seems a wrong format for her.

Sorry went a bit off topic there but my question to Ching is which Chinese chef/cook had inspired her most?

Hiya Ching, Firstly I would like to say Congratulations and Good Luck with your new show. I do enjoy watching you cook as I find you very peaceful and a calm chef. Will you be bringing out a cookbook, and also I would like to ask what is your most favorite dish you enjoy cooking, and what you enjoy eating. Kind Regards. Marie Big Grin Big Grin

I'm sorry but the Banal recipes on chings kitchen bear no comparison to any other food programs.
it is perhaps unfortunate that its been on this evening next to kyle who has a certain amount of flair and Panache
the programs I have seen prepared by Ching this evening appeared to be variations on Rice, frozen peas oyster sauce and soy sauce
i could produce better and more imaginative recipes and i am not even in the catering industry or is this a symptom of the dumbing down of TV
it is unfortunate that you scedule such an imaginative and charismic cooks such as kyle and Ken Hom
interspersed with such unimaginative "Ching's" programs
I was cooking more imaginative meals in the 60's

Well done Ching love the show - at last it's about cooking chinese food and obtaining the ingredients in England and not on some beach or bridge somewhere exotic! Keep it up and look forward to more.

I love the recipes - they are great and use easy to find, uncomplicated ingredients. At last I don't need to go searching high and low for items I have never heard of.

Well Done

Big Grin Hi Ching you're new show on uk food is so "Refreshing" its so nice to watch someone new. One question would you advise people to buy their ingredients from a chinese supermarket instead of "tescos" Some really tasty recipes I look forward to some more and good luck! ?

Hello Ching,I look after chinese girls during school holidays and as they are unable to return home for the New Year celebrations I prepare a dinner party in my home for them. This year I have 2 different age groups. 3 14yr olds and 2 18 yr olds.I help in in my friends chinese restaurant sometimes so I know how to cook asian food but what I would like to know is...
A family tradional snack they have during the day time, sweet or savoury as eating in there homes is very different from restaurant food.Have you any ideas for something quick ,something for both age groups. My time is limited as I work in a restaurant.Maybe a tradional sweet cake that is popular.I want this to be a surprise for them so cannot ask them.Hope have I asked this question in time and you will be able to help. They miss their families this time of the year and I really want to make them feel at home.Thankyou. I would also like to wish you a Happy near Year also and for anyone else celebrating the New Year.

I forgot to ask you if you Ching ,have you got an authentic recipe for fish cakes, similar to the thai fish cakes. During the new year they eat a lot of fish and I thought these would be nice to offer them with a dip.Sorry for asking 2 questions.Hi Jen,happy chinese new year to you and the team.2005? Why is it the year of the rooster? Oh dear that's 3 questions. Sorry. Blondie.

I saw Ching's programmes for the first time yesterday - fantastic. It just goes to show how many sensational dishes can be made using a few of the basic ingredients. I have been inspired to try and cook using them. And all this from someone who greatly favours Indian food. This is what the public wants; a programme fronted by a real person. Seldom have I seen such natural talent.

I have to say after watching it over the w/end, I have to agree somewhat on dolforgan's comments. I really had high expectations on this one as I thought she was rather good during one of those in-between segments during GFL. However I think having her own show only showed how inexperienced she is nd the script aaaghh, awful! But most of all the dishes & her overall cooking technique, oh dear, disappointing. Also found her rather unnatural, I mean why was she always smiling? Not to mention that I lost count on how many time she said "Absolutely wonderful, absolutely delicious", "can't wait to try this /eat this"!

Now Kylie Kwong - excellent show all around.
