... found this [link] and thought others might be interested. Not sure I agree, personally I like Plymouth Gin even in a G&T.

I must admit Fiona I prefer Beefeater gin with Fanta lemon, but not the stuff you buy here it's far too sweet.

I've heard about the merits of foreign Fanta before although G&T is my favourite tipple in the entire world.

Like the recipe I found, which is full of fairly strong opinions on the subject, I'm not keen on diet tonic but I'll second the great company.

Big Grin Agree with you, Fiona. Plym gin with PROPER tonic, no ice and no slice. Will definately agree with the company though. If ever you are in Turkey, try a slice or two of green mandarin in you G & T - totally different.

Bombay sapphire is a nice gin, we went to Vinopolis a while ago and they had a bombay sapphire room where we had a cosmopolitan made with it - OH makes them at home now - very nice!

Perhaps with my monkfish and bananas I could try Bombay Sapphire with green mandarin and foreign Fanta. Sounds interesting Wink

Sorry!! Just realised I should have posted this to Wine and Drink but it was his recipe I liked. In amongst his rantings is a recipe for Pink Gin which I goaded him into and a promise of one for the perfect Martini.

Porridge don't laugh, but I thought Bombay Sapphire gin was blue until I bought it and realised it was just the bottle.

I have to say I thought it was blue too. Wondered what effect that would have on a Pink Gin. Doh! Embarrassed

It would make it a lovely lilac colour!!
Any gin as long as it is over 40 proof. Organic tonic which Sainsburies used to sell but don't now - I'll ask on another thread. Slice of lemon, lime and ice.
Have a friend who swears by a slice of cucumber but I don't like the flavour. Now you've put me in the mood - must go make one. Big Grin

They are a bit like that aren't they? I have to agree with monkfishandbananas Schweppes tonic for me everytime with Waitrose a close second.

Hug Hi, liffey - my sister thought Bombay was blue too. She is not a gin drinker (can't think where she went wrong!)
Where do you stay in Turkey? We usually stay on Bodrum peninsula. Big Grin

Hi prawnfiller,we always stay in Icmeler which is close to Marmaris. What is Bodrum like? I don't know anyone who has been to that part.

Big Grin Greetings, kassey. Welcome to the site. Hug
Liffey, we went to Icmeler once - just after the big earthquake in Istanbul. I said that I wasn't worried about going to Turkey, because it wouldn't happen again. So, the room shaking in the early hours of the morning couldn't be an earthquake!! But it WAS!!! Not very big (about 5.4, I think) but big enough for me.
Bodrum and the peninsula is fabulous - our favourite spot is Bitez. No nightclubs, fantastic beach, loads of superb restaurants and nothing to do but chill!! Bodrum is near enough, (10 mins by dolmus) for shopping also Gumbet is you want some 'bump-bump' music.
Have a large G & T on me, both of you. With or without green mandarins! Hug Hug
