Help! I bought a non stick Tefal Carbon Steel Wok last week and seasoned it as per the instructions in the box. It went really black which I know is supposed to happpen however after I used it once I noticed that it was scratched on the bottom and after using it a second time, when I went to clean it with a piece of kitchen towel, big pieces of what I can only describe as carbon rust are coming off on the towel. Also pieces of food to seem to be sticking to the wok. Can anyone give me any advice on what I am doing wrong?

Many thanks
Kerri

Take it back I would say. That's definitely not right.

Take it back or get in touch with the makers as the Tefal should not come of at all and thay should replace it Angry

Did you use steel stirrer on it? I agree it shouldn't do this especially if you followed the instructions on box.
Best to buy a proper wok from a chinese supermarket (about £8) and season it by first of all scrubbing with soapy water to remove any engine oil, dry then sprinkle with salt and rub in, remove salt heat pan then add cooking oil heat til oil almost burns then wipe out. the pan will be tempered - bluey sheen. Wipe out with kitchen towel and never let soap anywhere near it ever again. Big Grin
