Is there anyway of making pita bread without yeast? i have heard that if you don't add yeast it cannot rise and it will become tortilla. Any suggestions?

You can use baking powder a little. Try making it again without yeast but with warm water you should get some spring in the oven or in a hot frying pan. Why can 't you use yeast?????

What about trying yoghurt, or does that count as yeast too?

I haven't done it, but I was thinking along the lines of how naan bread is made by using yoghurt instead of yeast to get it to rise. Have a look for some recipes on naan bread to see how to use the yoghurt and adapt it to how you like your pita bread. Hope this helps.
