Hi guys and girls. Last week I posted a reply on another message entitled 'eveing courses at westminster college', where a couple of people would like to get some real hands on training in the kitchen. We'll I'm a level 3 student at westminster college and a mate of Steve Walpole (good food bites & chef lecturer at Westminster college) and we're trying to arrange a course on saturday mornings for anyone interested in getting some hands on learing experience. But we'd like to see how many people would be interested in coming into the college for a few hours each week to learn basic skills and bits. The idea's are still being put to paper as I type but we think it would be a great way for ANYONE who would like to ideas for dinner parties or if your an aspiring to be a chef and would like to gain some basic skills. So it's really catering for everyones needs. So if your passionate about food post some messages on here so me and Steve can get an idea of who would be interested.

Cheers
Aaron Durrant (& Steve Walpole)

Hi Mark,
It's nice to see someone has a lot of enthusism towards cookery. thats sounds good I'm meeting with Steve this week so I'll make sure he's got your message and gets a schedule out to you when it's finished. Hopefully we should have some more takers soon once the schedule is finished we can try to sell the course to people a bit more.

anyway thanks for the post
hopefully see you soon

Aaron

Hi Emily,

I am a budding Cook who is looking to change careers, I currently work for an Internet Service Provider and have done for 5 years but I feel I need to fulfill my ambitions of becoming a qualified chef. This scheme sounds very appealing as I work during the week. I am unhappy in my current role and want to move swiftly into catering. Big Grin

and my name is Paul and I am 23 years old.

this would be of interest to me as well, but would depend on cost and time.

hi guys

this is Steve Walpole from Westminster College. nice to see i am getting some interest. the course will all going well start mid to end of febuary here at the college. if you would like a copy of the tweleve week scheme then send me an email - i will send you everything from cost to what you may need. the reason behind this was for people who want to be able to cook without having to do it as a qualification. but the stepping stone is that if you like it then you can join one of our other courses. we have limited spaces of 12- 16 people but if you guys are interested i will add you to the list we have so far. this is a pilot scheme at present but if it works then it will be an on going thing. we do a simular thing for kids aged from 12 years and up which is working well but this covers a range from basics to advanced skills so at the end you should gain a diverse understanding of all areas. hope to hear from you soon

regards

steve

Hi guys,
Thanks for your posts. It's encouraging to see that some people are interested in our course. As steve said we're pretty much ready to go but at the moment we're looking into sponsorships of clothing, food, kitchen costs e.t.c as this would save you guys a lot of money. Give steve an email and look over the scheme of work and I hope it will give you more of an outline into what we want to teach.
Thanks again

Hey guys
I was just wondering if you have any spare places on your course at the weekend? Its not for me but a friend as im already at westminster. Was just wondering because I know its been going on so long and that there has been trouble sorting it out. Probably down to Walpole! Just kidding!

Anyway keep us updated!

Hi Guys

Right sorry for the long delay with this course. its been with the bosses for a number of weeks and only now over this easter holiday has it been all agreed. still no sponsorship so the cost is going to be around £600 for tweleve weeks. but i will be teaching and along side me will be arron. so at least all of our hard work setting up has paid off. we are arranging a date over the next week for a saturday to get all candidates in for a de brief then give the start date which should be this month, there are some spaces but only a few as the responce has been great. for those who have been waiting and already replied i will be sending a copy of the updated scheme and date this week thank you for you patience sorry but education politics are a nightmare.

regards

Well, i'm on the professional chefs diploma. When you say 'we've' do you mean yourself and Walpole? Because Walpole should be able to guess from my last note!
Let me know!

So, have you guys guessed who I am yet or not?
Because I gave you a clue and you haven't written back!
I'm guessing you still don't know!
I want to know if you find out my mysterious identity other than french fries!

Hey Aaron
What makes you think im in the 1st year? Have you got a idea then? I thought you guys would have guessed who I am by now! Its sweet that your thinking about me! Nah just kidding!
The clue I will think about that won't give away my identity really easily.
Anyway have fun guessing for the time being! Let me know of any info you get!
