Can anyone help me? Last year I pulled off a fantastic recipe for tomato chutney from this site. I have since lost it and it doesnt appear to be on here any longer. The basic ingredients were tomatoes, garlic, onion, ginger, chilli, brown sugar, red wine vinegar and basil. Does anyone know what Im on about, or can suggest a similar alternative? I would be extremely grateful!

Go to Deliaonline and type in Anastasia's Sweet Tomato Pickle she is famous for it and everyone raves aboutit. With very good reason actually since it is gorgeous, and very well worth making. It seems to have all of your required ingredients except the Basil but I guess you could just add this in, people do seem to add different things.
Hope this helps.

I've made Anastasia's chutney, but I have to warn you that it will be scoffed at an alarming rate and every few weeks for the rest of your life you will be making it. But, on the bright side, it doesn't seem that you can overdose on it. Believe me, my husbands tried.

Hi peabrain -

Glad to hear the pickle turned out to your liking.

You did nothing wrong on the search. I could not find it either by typing in the name of the recipe so I just searched back the pages until I found it. Put the recipe in a safe place as no doubt you will be making it often.

Message for Livewire. I am very keen to make this tomato chutney for myself and have just spent ages on the deliaonline web page scrolling down the pages - there are over a hundred and the topics are so interesting I have got distracted!! Could you possibly help by giving the page number and printing the recipe if you are allowed. Thanks a million Livewire.

Just checked again Linda. Go to the Coffee Break Forum. At the moment the recipe is on page 4 under Anastasia's Sweet Tomato Pickle posted by Carol on 28th October 2004.

Sorry, but I would not be allowed to post the recipe here. It would be deleted.

Hi everyone sorry people I'm no good at this computer malarkey and haven't learned to copy and paste yet. The telephone was cut off yesterday the men were over the road putting up a new pole and cut us off without warning!!
Definitely try this recipe it is wonderful, and don't cut down on the garlic it does make a difference. It is a famous recipe on this site and only found in the messageboard sections. Well worth making for Christmas.

Hi Stasia, I 've just got your recipe for the pickle form Delia's site, but you don't say how long it lasts for. I've never made pickle before, so I'm inexperienced so I'm not sure about these things ! Also do I have to sterilize the jars before, use wax paper etc..? Sorry for all my questions but I'm going ot make it all for xmas !

Hi Anastasia

I have been using a recipe very similar for the last 10 years. I got it from my Mum who got it from her Mum.... Well you get the drift - It was originally from France (Well this variation was) and we used to use it as a dipping sauce.

I have now completely forgotten what I was going to say next.... errrrrr ...... Nice Day isn't it???? errrrr...

I'll get me coat, and try and remember later

Cheers

Mr Thicky

T Hi ChiaraCla. This chutney will last a long time , no problem storing it, but I assure you it will be eaten up very fast. I sterilize my jars by washing them weel , & then I always put mine in the oven for about 15 mins before i need them. I always put chutney or jam into very hot jars , & put a wax disc on top, 7 then cover. regards Anastasia.
