On a previous thread about cookery books someone (I think it was Mammachef) recommended paperbacks by Australian Womens weekly. I recently saw one of their paperbacks about buffet food and it was excellent. What I particularly liked was the fact that it told you just how far in advance the food could be prepared or part prepared. My shelves groan with cookery books but I have decided that I can still fit in a few of the Australian Womens Weekly cookbooks but where can I buy them from?

They are good cookbooks, one of my favourites is the 'Dinner Party' cookbook. Lots of really nice recipes and good information, as you said.

You can buy some of the smaller cookbooks from Magshop:

Actually, ignore my previous post, I found the main pages for the Woman's Weekly cookbooks, both the standard and mini books.

The Australian Woman's Weekly comes out once a month. How Australian is that?! It's a good magazine, I often buy it.

I heard it is called 'Weekly' despite actually being a monthly publication because, well, Australian Women's Monthly can mean something else. Wink

no alysha jane... it is called that because it used to come out weekly, and turned monthly and got bigger. - much like many of us i expect!!Smile

the magazine is different to the cookbooks, but has lots of great recipes, as you'd expect.

i have seen them in waterstones too.

Hi Marion. I'm still hunting for avocado recipes! We are completely overrun with them at the moment. The Daniel Green recipe for avocado soup with poached salmon which is on this site is still my favourite and I make it with poached prawns too. Yummy!

Oh my goodness, Livewire! Thank you so much. I have looked at some of the many recipes on there, Avocado Angel Eggs look lovely, and the Avo Marmalade I will definitely try. Also the Avo smoothie, and the pancakes in the children's section. What a find. It's now bookmarked ... again, many many thanks.

I have explored that site further. I can use them on my hair, my face, my hands, my feet ... I have an endless supply of free avocados. I am definitely going to try this! Thanks Livewire, what a star!

This is a shameless plug, but you can now buy the whole range of Australian Women's Weekly cookbooks online from a UK web site. Go to www.acpuk.com and follow the links.

I was in Books Etc a few minutes ago and they had several titles available. I have about 20 AWW books, but from the acpuk website it looks like many of them are no longer available.

they're recently re-released a load of them in Australia and NZ - I'm sure they'll be shipping some of them over again soon.
The AWW BBQ cookbook is one of the best... I've also got on of my Mum's from the 80's for Cakes - mmmm, tasty.
A useful little cookbook is the Edmunds Cookbook (flour and sugar company) which is really good for quick and easy recipes - their guide to gravy is the best

I get my Australian womans weekly cook books from WHSmiths or Elizabeth David cookware department in our local department store but have seen them in a number of different places.
