After the annoying programme thread..what one UKfood programme would you love to see again and again, and choose if you were told you could only watch one.

I have a huge struggle here as I love 'Star Suppers' as it combines food with Paris, two of my favourite subjects, and I have seen every episode about 10 times.

And I am saying GFL is a given as we all love it to bits.

But if being strictly foodie (oh no, that means I have to rule out Hugh's programmes as well, and I have them all (nearly) on dvd ) I guess I would say...even though I love Jamie and have his dvd's too...'Nigella Bites' as it introduced me to Nigella and a whole new range of cooking and recipies that I had never done before. Plus I love her..she is just so gorgeous.

Blimey...that was a hard choice! (But notice how I sneaked all my other favourites in there too! )

I still like all the reruns of Masterchef - perhaps because I always dreamed I might be on there one day (i actually got as far as filling in the application and then the thought of appearing on tv freaked me out)! I think Jamie O and Nigella are similar because they are the "throw it all in " brigade and love watching them both. But recently I have enjoyed The Best (Is that what its called?)

It is a hard choice - oh I like Tamasin Day-Lewis too. Her books are good.... am I allowed to expand this thread and include what cookery book couldnt you live without- or has that been done before - I am fairly new on here dont forget and dont go all "clic"y on me - JOKE!

I love Masterchef too. I think that and The Best (yes - it is what it's called ) are the two programmes I'd watch over and over with pleasure!

I don't know if a particular thread has been done on cookery books - I know when chefs are being discussed then their books are as well.

Yes, me too, Masterchef has always been my favourite food show.

However, I love Galley Slaves. Im sure I have Mediterranean blood in me as I just go off in my own little dream world watching it. It combines the greek cuisine with beautiful scenery. I would 'Love' Melissas job

I adore Rick Stein and I have watched all his programmes over and over again.

I also love watching Tamasin,and I have also watched all her programmes.

I like the old Masterchefs especially when you see the famous chefs judging and they look so young, I particularly liked the one where our very own kiwichef was a contestant. I enjoyed the AWT series but I see they are showing it again but maybe a bit too soon as I watched them all last time. I liked the ones where he went to Spain and I saw places near to where I have been on holiday - the market he went to was fantastic and when I go again in May I intend to stock up on all the spices they sell there.

I must say I never get bored watching Antonio Carluccio's Southern Italian Feast.

I love Keith Floyd and although it is a bit dated now I love him as a presenter.

I love Master Chef, but I think I preferred th format with Lloy Grossman, where there were two guest judges, I also think that when a chef presents they try to interfere, as in Aisley on ready steady cook. I also love The Best and think Silvana was wasted as a food stylist. James Martin's Sweet is also another favourite, what can I say, I have sweet tooth and James is great eye candy.

I never quite got to like Masterchef, even the repeats have not won me over. I like the Best, it is not only good to see the recipes and the competition between them but also the sense of fun and respect for each others work.

Dear Porridge, I would be so happy to know whereabouts in Spain that market is, as I would also love to go there one day. It looked like the kind of place where I would just go crazy shopping. Thanks so much.
Oh and my favourite shows: love Carluccio most of all, everything including the music, and Nigel Slater too. Like Nigella and Jamie and also Rick Stein. Girgio Locatelli I liked too, but not the one with Tony which I found rather self-indulgent.

Hi piripiri.... the market you see on the AWT series is the Mercado Central (central market)in Fuengirola, it's really easy to find as it's just opposite Fuengirola train station. The spice stall is fantastic, all the herbs and spices are on show and their names are marked in Spanish and English and the man who owns it is a real sweetie. I buy all of my dried herbs and spices there and it's so cheap. Sue

Wow that was quick and helpful too, thanks Sue, perhaps I'll get there one day. You are lucky to be able to shop there all the time. Sorry I've gone a bit off topic here, but I'm so glad I got that information.

Of course I don't see all the UKF programmes out here but there is a channel called Lifestyle Food and they are showing lots of British programmes which is really great for me. I see GFL every weekday and I think we are only about two weeks behind you. I loved The Best. And Chalet Slaves with Mike Robinson, that's fun and being aired here at the moment. I see Ready Steady Cook most days with Ainsley but have no idea how old these programmes are. All in all since we got satellite TV and I have been able to watch this Lifestyle Food channel I have been spoilt! They have just shown the whole of Delia's How to Cook series which was interesting as I didn't see it when it aired in the UK.

Totally agree with you Carol137 that GFL and GFB are right up there, and I want new series of 'The Best' and 'Nations Favourite' too.

Loving the repeats of Safari Chef (can we have more/new Mike Robinson? Pleease!), though I am now getting a little obsessed and have started thrusting travel brochures for holidays in Kenya at my poor unsuspecting lovely husband...

My favorites are The Best, shame they only ever made one series, and good old AWT. The docu show that is on at the moment gives a real insight into the life of a chef. I have seen both series both times they have been shown and could watch them over and over again!!

Floyd in Spain for me, the cooking is not that great in the series but mixed in with the lovely scenery and locations i get good 30 minutes of escapism.
Close second has to be Jamie Oliver, for me he blew away the cobwebs of the majority of cookery programmes we were shown and made everything dish seem possible to create.

The Best,GFL,& Nigella.I loved Jamie Oliver when he 1st came along but now I just switch him off every time..

Rick Stein's Food Heroes. He cares about the food in Britain and how the supermarkets are encouraging mass food production, therefore butchers,greengrocers and bakers are all forced out of business. Food is losing it's taste. I applaud his efforts.

The one programme that keeps me laughing and cooking is the one with Giorgio and Tony, their constant banter and giggling combined with some great recipes is a sure way to make my day. More more more please.

GFL for sure but after that don't know, there are so many good food programmes its difficult to chose
