The one dish I have always enjoyed sharing is an enormous bowl of Singapore Laksa - there used to be a Malaysian restaurant on the Finchley Road and their Laksa was incredible - absolutely gorgeous (the dish not the bloke I was sharing it with...). I also love sharing fondues with friends - but with meat/veg and oil as opposed to chocolate or cheese, great fun, and I really fancy trying a steam boat when I get my hands on one.

The ultimate sharing food has to be chocolate fondue with marshmallows, strawberries, or anything else that happens to be lying about the house!
Or toasted marshmallows

Chinese barbecue spare ribs and Singapore noodles - and, like Trudi, a good bottle of wine, ahh the simple things in life. Smile

There are so many good sharing plates but the one i find is gloriously social is a really fine paella served in the pan of course chicken and artichoke or seafood with the rice deliciously caramelised to for a fine socarrat. mmmm

Seafood, yes definitely, Stephen581, especially one of those huge seafood platters you get in Brittany, superb!

crispy mushrooms and potato wedges with dips - a bit dated but still tasty - also with a good bottle of wine to go with!

A classic Fondue Bourgignonne has to be my favourite! Chunks of prime fillet or rump steak, cooked to your liking. The dips are great, because you can mix your own blend and strength, from: fondue sauce, rouille, ketchup, mustard, hot horseradish, chopped onions & garlic. Serve with crusty baguettes and bottles of Bordeaux!! Sit everyone male / female alternately, and if you lose your steak in the pot tradition says you have to kiss the person on your left!! Develish

I think that marshmallows toasted over an open flame and then sandwiched between two rich tea biscuits is the best thing ever! alternatively there is always the idea of cooking bananas with a mars bar inside of them - a child's fave! Tongue

Question on fondue: Is there any way of making a cheese fondue, without the alcohol? I need to know because chocolate is getting slightly old and cheese sounds GOOD!

Is it actually a problem with the alcohol content because the alcohol should burn off with cooking or is it a matter of taste?
