I want to make my own sushi - can anyone suggest wher I can buy sushi rice and Nori to make some Nori Roll's? A supermarket outlet would be ideal or any specialist shops in Liverpool/Wirral area. Any ideas gratefully accepted.

waitrose is a good outlet that sells all what you need to make sushi, also if you have an oriental supermarket near, they should sell the things u need to.

I have been making sushi quite regularly for the past few years but strangely found it incresingly difficult to find the ingredients until I found a chinese supermarket in leeds. However for a small taster perfect for someone first trying to make the wonderful stuff try tescos - some of their branches sell a sushi kit for around £3.50 that contains all the basics you need (rice, seaweed, wasabi, soy, rice dressing) and some simple instruction to make one meal for upto four people.

If you're in London, try Japan Centre at Piccadilly Circus or www.japancentre.com Ground level is a japanese cafe. The staff are very helpful, anything you need but can't find it, just ask. They have sushi takeaway in the basement and all the groceries are in the basement too. So you could get yourself sushi fix before you start shopping. The sushi are reasonably priced and freshly made.

Hi Frances, did you have any joy finding anywhere on Wirral that supplied sushi ingredients? I have been on all of the local supermarkets websites and not had any joy - typically the one which is about 40 miles away had a range of products, Waitrose, but not able to find any local suppliers, I would really like to avoid buying off the web as I am keen to have a regular local supplier - did you manage to locate one? -many thanks, Suzanne Confused Confused

I have tried the Nori strips from Waitrose and did not find the taste and texture to be tom my liking. I think I will the thespiceshop.co.uk next. The internet is the easiest way to buy most things nowadays.
