For some reason I was not allowed to put all I wanted to in the first message so here's the other bit! - Paul said that rabbit was cheap - what does he mean by cheap? - I would really like to know what the actual main ingredient (in Paul's case 2 rabbits) costs so that I can make up my own mind whether it is cheap or not, because this must always be relative to a persons budget! - I would love it if when a chef says something is cheap they are able to quote specifics? (like, this is two rabbits and they weighed XXXX and cost XXXX and will serve XXXX)- please oblige!

Yes i do wish they would not be so plippant when they make these recipes ragrding the ingredients, to day Jeni pinned Paul down regarding the rabbit and he really could not give a satisfactory answer to its availability. They obviously ask for the ingredients and hay they miraculously appear and all ready prepared nice work if you can get it Wink

Frozen rabbit is always available and relativly cheap in my opinion. Fresh or rather Gamey rabbit is another matter I suppose.

Rustie, will investigate my nearest Tesco - I know my local sainsburys doesn't have it, but thanks anyway. According to Paul, when I watched the repeat, one rabbit costs about 4 quid and will serve 4 - that, on my budget, is expensive!

My Butcher in Harpenden, Herts, has frozen local rabbit for £3 each. He also can do fresh once the season gets underway in September. Personally, I find frozen convienient and the process of freezing and defrosting has a tenderising effect. Same with pheasant, if you don't like the thought of hanging. Good Luck Tongue
