Video clips
Broadband is not available in many areas of the UK
Lots of us don't have Broadband
because of not being available or because it costs too much

Well it does give the option of fast (Broadband) and slow (modem) but neither will work on this laptop. Will try again when I get my pc back.

This is a fantastic feature in my opinion. This beats the recipe book pictures so can actually show you in 'real life' how to cook something.
I appreciate that not all people don't have access to BB but this is the future. There is no point waiting for everyone to get BB before releasing the feature.

No beanz, look around a bit more and you will see that different people are having different problems with different features of the website. Teething problems. I really don't need help in sorting things out on my own computers, just waiting for the problems to be sorted out the website end.

But thank you anyway.

It all works fine for me so it may be down to other users version of the required s/w to view clips etc. Worth checking instead of waiting for the site to be 'fixed'

Well it would be very strange if it turned out that I could watch every video clip with the most up to date versions etc on every other site I go on and not this one eh beanz. Some of us have exactly the same settings and connections and programs and everythings you ever need, but still some are getting the services and some aren't. So please, just cos it works for you.......... don't mean it works for everyone. I have every confidence that the fixing will come as soon as it is possible.

Hi Guys, Tony from UKfood did say very clearly that there would be teething problems. They cant do everything at the same time. So a bit of patience is needed I think and all will be well in the end. I think they are doing a great job in this transfer. Not many sites are so informative in how they are getting on or listening to our requirements and comments.
Will be glad when its all done though so I can play properly with all my new friends and toys. Big Grin

I work in the IT industry so I understand what the developers/web designers are going thru at UKFood. One of the main problems with the video playback is that there are several flavours of player and different versions of it with different plugins. If I and other people can view the video fine then UKTV have got it working (there maybe tweaks that they can do) and its us users that sometimes need to change 1 or 2 things on our system.

beanz, I did not mean to offend you, but I am not going to muck about with my system when the site itself is having problems. I don't need to watch the videos, I was simply stating for other people's benefit, that there are two speeds so you don't HAVE to have Broadband, but also that I do have Broadband and that it doesn't work for me.

Now, also I know that other people posting on this site have exactly the same the same connections as I do, but the track this discussion doesn't work for them. Again this is down to the temporary problems with the site, not our settings etc.

I know you work in the IT industry, you have mentioned it before and given advice, but in this case, I personally, would not want to change any settings until Tony has assured us that everything is fine, which I am sure he will do when he is ready. I can imagine how hard they are working on this, and would hate to create more problems in the meantime. I am on my daughter's laptop at the moment, but my pc should be back tomorrow, so when that arrives and I download and upgrade etc etc everything, I will try the video on that, and if it works, I will report back then.

But don't ever stop giving opinions just because of my opinions, afterall they are all only opinions. Wink (and I still think the other smilies were better, even if we couldn't just click on them)

See what you mean about the preview Lil'Abby, I think it must be so we can edit (this is an edit or addition after the preview) but when we asked for an edit facility I think most people though it would just be an option, not have to do a preview to achieve it, but never mind, I suppose that from now on all posts will be perfect. But I am not sure yet whether it will be possible to go back into the post again later, AFTER IT HAS BEEN SENT, to edit, and that is what people were asking for. If we can, then I will be adding something else lol

Big Grin I understand a lot of people have had problems, but they are probably the main ones who are posting messages! I really love the new feature - especially good for my daughter who has lost the ability to watch the programs as they can't get NTL or Sky in her new flat.

I miss the option to email a recipe, but I can cut, paste & send so it's not a big deal.

Keep up the good work - it's not perfect, but it is certainly very good
