For me it is to steam it - snap the hard, woody stems off, leaving the tender tops; place these in steamer for about 4/5 mins and then test. Overcooked asparagus is horrible so keep checking it. I love asparagus with fish dishes but also have it with meat - entirely up to you. Try searching this site for asparagus and see what ideas you might get.

I love it roasted, snap off hard ends, put in bowl and toss with olive oil, garlic, sea-salt and bits of black olives, put in tray with a couple of leaves of fresh basil and roast for about 25 minutes. g

Iv'e started just putting mine in a frying pan with some olive oil and popping it under a hot grill for a while, tossing it about every couple of mins and testin with the point of a knife for doneness.
Then add some lemon juice and black pepper.

Steamed then wrapped in parma ham or smoked salmon. Spears beautiful in a green salad with a dressing.Poached with hollandaise sauce. Souffle, before beating in the egg yolks add finely chopped asparagus.

Try a little virgin olive oil and very little sea salt.
Brush asparagus with it and cook on a plancha until just al dente and slightly browned.

In the Herald today it said only some people suffer and only some people can smell it so if you're one of the lucky ones you can eat as much as you like Big Grin
