Can anyone recommend a good restaurant in London with a chef that has made appearances on Good Food Live? My husband and I are going to London for our 1st wedding anniversary at the end of August and I'd love to surprise him. I've had a look at websites for Jamie's Fifteen but wasn't impressed and Gary Rhodes and Gordon Ramsays are just sooo expensive!

why don't you try the Kew Grill where AWT is often found - I know it's not in London exactly but Kew is a very nice part of the world?

Another good AWT place is Notting Grill and there is a 'boutique b & b' nearby called Guesthouse West (www.guesthousewst.com).

What about Ed Baines' restaurant in Soho - Randall & Aubin.

Hi Lil'Abby, from what I can gather, the restaurant took over the premises of a French food shop called Randall and Abin that had been there since 1904 - so presumably Ed decided to keep the name?

Thanks Georgie - makes sense to keep it if it that's old a name eh? Smile

thanks for all your suggestions. I'll make enquiries about AWT's Notting Grill. Sounds lovely.

Also can anyone tell me about Genaro Contaldo's 'Passione'? Will it be booked months in advance?

Or Mr Turner's gaff at the Millenium Hotel. If you want to see Ed, he's more often seen at his Fulham Rd branch

Another good place is Lindsay House in Soho. It's Richard Corrigan's restaurant.

We went a couple of weeks ago and had a delicious meal. OK, it's not cheap, but the food is to die for, the staff are exceedingly friendly and it feels like you're having dinner at a friend's house rather than a restaurant.

I went to Passione in July last year and we only booked a couple of weeks before. It wasn't full and people walked off the street and managed to get a table without a reservation. The food was fabulous and very reasonable. I would definately recommend it and we are looking forward to a return visit.

S.r Contaldo will make you feel like a star as he's such a great bloke. The Maitre d's also called Gennaro so it gets confusing but Charlotte St.'s all the better for him

There's a restaurant called 'Michael Moore' - I believe it's the same Michael Moore who's appeared on GFL numerous times. Looks fab.

Notting Grill is friendly and unpretentious. I really liked it and it's "family friendly" at lunch time, something that is rare in the UK. Isn't the Ivy as hard to get a table in as the places you mentioned? Somebody told me that you had to book 6 months in advance?

Boxwood Cafe is very affordable for a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. Try that.

Agree with Little Jo, AWT's Notting Grill is great and AWT himself is wonderful, Boxwood cafe is nothing special and G.Ramsay well, what can I say...
