This is kinda the same as the thread about the appetizers for the barbeque - except im looking for kebab ideas...

Last year at my sister in laws barbeque - i made chicken tikka kebabs that went down a storm - along with chilli and lamb i think and potatoes & pork on kebabs.

This year - ive been asked to make the same - tikka are def's - I would recommend these to anyone - im catering for around 50 - 60 - and everyone had 2-3 last year tikka alone!!!

But ive been asked to try and make some kind of chinese flavoured chicken kebabs - can anyone recommend a chinese marinade? I would prefer to make my own rather than shop bought - but if anyone strongly recommends shop bought brand - than I shall probably try that.
Thanks

p.s. lets hope the weather gets better!!!

Hi there - if you type satay in the recipe search above you will get several satay marinades - number 4 on the list by Nancy Lam is quite a good one. You don't need to do her peanut sauce etc., just try the marinade. if you would like a very quick and easy recipe for peanut/satay sauce for dipping just let me know and I will post that for you.

Hi Porridge - would you post the recipe anyway? I'd love to have a quick peanut sauce recipe. Thanks

No probs Lil'Abby - here it is - it is so yummy and easy I use it for satay sauce with chinese food or with a bbq in the garden - always goes down well and it all goes in the mocrowave

6 tabs crunchy peanut butter
3 oz creamed coconut from the block - chopped up
4 teas lemon juice
1 tab soft brown sugar
1 tsp chilli pwder
1 tab tomato puree
1 garlic clove
2 tsp soy sauce
salt and pepper
about half pint water

put everything into a microwaveable bowl and mocr ofr about 5 minutes until it bubbles

then micro on a low setting for about 5 minutes - adjust according to thickness of sauce - add more water if required - it is so easy and my family and friends love it with anything.
