Do you have any really delicious but simple to make ideas for snacks before a barbeque. I am going to put out salami, olives, haloumi, stuffed pepperdews and the like. I am not keen on thing that will go soggy while waiting to be eaten.
Any suggestions will be appreciated……

Dorz. What are 'pepperdews'? Never heard of them before. Have you thought about putting out a few dips too? Either Deli bought or homemade.

Yes there will be dips, didnt want to list everything I am doing.
Pepperdews are like little sweet and spicy peppers that are from South Africa, they come in a bottle covered in oil, I think, available in Sainsburys. Really lovely on sandwiches or stuffed, look on google and you will find a wealth of recipies for them on South African websites.
Any other exciting ideas anyone? Are 'crudettes' a thing of the past or a good idea to go with the dips?

I love peppadew. Can't stop eating them - They are just so moreish! but I prefer the hot to the mild. They are (preserved?) in sugar, salt, spirit vinegar etc. This is lovely mixed into a salad as a dressing by the way. Never thought of stuffing them before - sounds great.

i make a bean and potato salad to go with/ before a bbq.

for 4 people
you need 4 small onions sliced in to thin rings,
2 carrots diced very thinly
4/5 slices of streaky baccon cut in to small strips
one tin of mixed salad beans
one small tin of butter beans
a punnet of new potatos( about 4/5 spuds per person) boiled and then sliced
butter, vegatable oil, and balsamic vinager

heat a frying pan, add a little oil and a knob of butter, then add the carrots and onions sweat till onions begin to soften.

then add the baccon bits and fry till almost cooked.

drain the mixed beans and butter beans add to the frying pan and saute for about 5 mins and some more butter and 2/3 table spoons of balsmic vinager.

take a clear dish and place a layer of potato slices, then the bacon and been mixure continue untill you have run out potatoes and mixture.

sprinkle with a few basil leaves and a littel more vinager.

can be eaten hot or cold.
hope this helps
